Donna has always been a music fan and was found banging out a tune on the family piano by ear at a very early age. She grew up playing classical piano and brass. Performing in avant garde and pop bands, she didn't get into singing seriously til her 20s, when she joined Squander Pilots and made an album of electronic dream pop. While exploring her singing voice she delved into jazz and found that it was very well suited to her unique style.
Inspired by Kate Bush, Nick Cave and Bjork, Donna enjoys improvisation and is as well suited to ballads as she is to latin and swing music. Jazz favourites include Betty Carter, Abbey Lincoln and Blossom Dearie.
As well as solo performance Donna is also a member of the Parsonage alternative choir, who are currently a great favourite at festivals and perform regularly all over Scotland.
The track Pedestrian is by her old band Squander Pilots, and Donna can be heard playing flugel horn as well as singing.
