About Me

I am Jim Soule a singer/songwriter from St. Paul, MN. I've been writing songs for almost 10 years. I fell in love with the acoustic guitar about 4 years ago, which shaped a new trend for my songwriting. With new influences such as Wilco, Bright Eyes, Nick Leet, Elliott Smith to go along with old ones such as They Might Be Giants, Dave Matthews, Green Day, Jimmy Eat World and Better Than Ezra a new sound has come to my songwriting over the last 18 months as well.
My story really started in high school when I learned about They Might Be Giants. I loved their story and it inspired me to write and record music. Music and songwriting was more of a personal outlet for many years. I meet a good friend, Nick Leet of High on Stress, and he suggested that I share my songs with people. Songwriting has become a very public therapy for me.
I have played over two dozen solo acoustic shows at local places such as the Acadia Cafe, Terminal Bar, Club Underground and Anodyne Cafe. I am recording a new record right now that I hope to have finished and released later this year.
