About Me

I was born in San Marcos, Hays Co., Texas. The county was named for model Texas Ranger, Jack Hays. When I was real young, my family moved to Austin, TX. After a few years we moved to a residence near Mount Bonnell. As a kid, I learned that Texas ranger / folkhero, Wm. A. A. "Big Foot" Wallace lived in a cave on the mount and I have been intrigued by Wallace ever since. At the end of my street was a cemetery. Among the tombstones are the graves of noted Texas rangers, Frank Hamer and Manny Gault. This is the dynamic dou that tracked down bank robbers Bonnie and Clyde. Author James A. Mischner is also buried in this cemetery. It's also really coincidental that " old rangers "can be spelled with letters in my first and last names with a couple letters left over. I've never messed with illegal drugs or tobacco products, but have raised some hell. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Looking for adventure, I joined the army in '86 and was sent to Fort Sill, OK. After boot camp, I had duty stations in Mannheim, Germany (last years of the Cold War) and Fort Bragg, N. Carolina. While at Bragg, I participated in many training missions with the 18th Airborne Corp like Robin Sage. In '89, the Corp was deployed in Operations Hawkeye (Hurricane Hugo, U.S.Virgin Islands) and Just Cause (Panama Invasion) where I saw all the death and destruction that I want to see in my life. I got out of the army in '90 and joined the Texas Guard, where I was a retention NCO with the 49th Armored Division.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Over the last several years, I have been involved with historical research on the Texas Rangers among other subjects. I'm a contributor to the Former Texas Ranger Museum, Kerrville, Texas. (under construction) and to Mike Cox's books on the law enforcement organization and its early history. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Just finished editing Volume II of The Texas Rangers, Wearing the Cinco Peso by Mike Cox and presently I'm drawing space ships for a UFO book.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I'm fairly boring or some folks might say normal. I'm not interested in anybody underage. I also have little affinty with those that wear excessive make-up, tatoos, brands, piercings, cosmetic scarring or facial prosthetics. I like folks for who they are, not for who they wannabe. Sorry.

LIFE IS LIKE A TURNPIKE, song by my deceased father.

As I glide on to the turnpike The keeper waves me by. I'm feelin' free and easy As down the road I fly.   But as I reach the other end, The keeper waves me down, And I know I'll have to pay, And ...

What if mere want and other ills-I dare? What if my body be not clothed so fair? I must have books, as lungs need air.
