Canberra musician LEANNE MELMOTH’S debut album Perfect Day, is an irrepressible grin flashing in the rear view mirror from a woman with a passion for music. Perfect Day’s smooth fusion of country and adult-contemporary, lyrics layered with hope and humour and up-beat melodies, conjure the feeling of being homeward bound with one hand at the wheel and the other weaving through the wind.Leanne spent her youth in Gunnedah, Bookham and Sydney before settling in Canberra. The soundtrack to Leanne’s early life included Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Jean Strafford and Kenny Rogers. At fourteen, Leanne traded her car keys for the keyboard and vocals. Her eighteenth year saw her join her first band, Hot Property. She became a singing teacher in 2000 and her musical journey continued through Raucous Overtones, a Canberran cover band. Recently, Leanne helped form the duo, Menagerie. She is currently part of country outfit, the Leanne Melmoth Duo and performs regularly. Her career highlights include the independent writing, recording and release of Perfect Day.Leanne’s music encompasses a range of different influences including Sugarland, the McClymonts and Carrie Underwood. However her openness of expression, faith and the two baby-seats in the backseat set her sound apart. Leanne’s musical and life experience are reflected between the beats of each bar and in every lyric she writes. Leanne has recently had extended radio exposure with QBNFM and other country radio stations across Australia, she has also supported The McClymonts for the Canberra leg of their Chaos & Bright Lights tour, as well as performing at Stage 88 for the Beijing Olympic torch relay with Shannon Noll. She is looking forward to supporting Melinda Schneider on Tuesday 24th June along with her own Debut Album launch party for “Perfect Day†on Friday 27th June, Murrumbateman Inn 8pm.
