It was beauty that killed the beast

About Me

I am a Marketing major at UAB and will graduate in December 2008. I will then follow my undergraduate with a Masters in Business Administration. I haven't decided whether I am going to stay in Birmingham to finish my Masters or pack my bags and get out of Alabama first.
Most people think that I am a genius when in reality I have learned to use Google very well. I know a good bit about all kinds of electronics, but I have gained that knowledge by taking things apart and attempting to put them back together.
I love singing and playing piano even though I haven't had a lot of time to do either recently. Music is one of my passions in life.h2

Although you hide in the ebb and flow
Of the pale tide when the moon has set,
The people of coming days will know
About the casting out of my net,
And how you have leaped times out of mind
Over the little silver cords,
And think that you were hard and unkind,
And blame you with many bitter words.
-William Butler Yeats

My Interests

Music is a large portion of my life. I love singing and playing music...mostly Gospel. I am out of town (sometimes out of state) at a 'singing' usually once or twice a month. I have made a lot of out of state friends via Gospel music and I often visit them on the weekends. Intellectual debate is also a good way to pass the time. And when I don't feel like being smart, just plain arguing works.

I'd like to meet:

.. "font-family: 'times new roman'; text-align: left; font-size: 120%;" Bill Clinton, Anderson Cooper, Harry Connick Jr, Miles Davis, Jamie Cullum, Haydn, Mozart, John Edwards, Bill Gates.

Music:

Canadian Brass, Wynton Marsalis, David Phelps, Harry Connick Jr, Jamie Cullum, Michael Buble, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Gaither Vocal Band, The Statesmen Quartet, Train, Matchbox 20, Maroon 5, Classical, anything Jazz/Blues, some Hip-Hop, and very little Rap.

Movies:

The Pianist, Munich, The Notebook, Double Jeopardy, Breaking Dawn, The Sixth Sense, The Others, The Butterfly Effect, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, A Beautiful Mind, White Christmas, On Golden Pond, James Bond movies, King Kong.

Television:

South Park, Family Guy, Will & Grace, Anderson Cooper 360, CNN, any game show, standup, some comedy central.

Books:

I'm more of a magazine person (GQ / Details), but I read a few books every now and again. I like anything about the stock market, investing, and psychology. Anything by Augusten Burroughs will be great, but his best is Magical Thinking. The three book series of 'Questions you'd only ask a doctor after your third whiskey sour' by Mark Leyner and Billy Goldberg is an interesting read as well.

Heroes:

My grandmother and my father. My gradmother because she she always pushed me to do my best in everything that I did. I feel that the reason I have become so successful is because of things that she taught me. My father because he is such a pillar in our family. Although we didn't have a very tight "father/son" relationship while I was a younger, he always wanted what was best for me. He is one of the most honest and loving men that I know.

Jesus Returns

I went to see Superman Returns a couple of days ago. It's a very good movie...even if you aren't a Superman fan. Very early into the movie, however, I started noticing something. The writers depicted ...
