Drummer Michael Duffy’s love of playing music began at age 13 when his mom gave him his first drum set. At 19, he took his natural born talent on to the 10-time national champion drum & bugle corps, The Blue Devils, which took him through 2 tours of the U.S. and Europe. After winning a scholarship to the prestigious music school, the University of North Texas, Michael went on to cut his teeth in various local Texas bands, finally getting his first big national tour with jazz saxophonist Joseph Vincelli. A 6-year stint in the U.S. Air Force Band of the West gave Michael an opportunity to hone his skills in a variety of musical styles, from jazz to country to salsa and classical. After his honorable discharge from the military, Michael moved to Austin, TX and quickly established himself as one of the “go-to” drummers in town. He worked with renowned local Austin talent the Groove Line Horns, MC Overlord, and La Tribu. Tony Award-winning Broadway musical “Blast” brought Michael to Los Angeles in 2003. He played with the show for one year before hitting the road with African singer Ricardo Lemvo. Further success came rapidly after that. Michael has toured with Grammy-award winning notables, such as popular LA-based band Ozomatli and Mexican megastar Joan Sebastian, with whom he spent 4 years touring the U.S., Mexico and South America. In between tours, Michael has landed stints with R&B/pop singer Christina Milian,Singer Songwriter Big Phony and Anahita Kia, Electronica Artist Bitter:Sweet and Shaheen Shake and Mexican mega group RBD. Currently Michael has been touring with So Cal Punk Icon, Steve Soto ( Agent Orange and The Adolensents). Steve has formed a new band (Steve Soto and The Twisted Hearts) with members from The Royal Crown Revue, 22 Jacks, Mike Ness, Ozomatli and Los Super Elegantes bluring many musical lines and styles....Michael endorses: Fibes drums, Pearl Percussion, Vater drumsticks, Cympad cymbal pads TRX cymbals and Aquarian drumheads.
