CURRENT MOON about the moonI love to read and take pictures of nature. I'm online a lot, and my fave sites are ebay.com, ghostdroppings.com, oddtodd.com and any other halloween related website. I enjoy spending time with friends, family, my dogs and my husband. I'm into witchcraft and especially halloween. Halloween is my all time favorite holiday. I think about and prepare for it year round. October is a really busy month at my house, so I save up my vacation time to take then. I usually start decorating the first week, starting with the outdoor stuff. Once that's done, I move indoors and decorate there. I don't put "the good stuff" out until the day of tho, because I live in the ghetto and I don't want anything stolen. The second Friday of October is the start of the Covered Bridge Festival in Rockville Indiana. My family and I drive out there and camp out for the weekend and shop and eat and have a great time. After that weekend, my husband and I try to go to haunted houses, hay rides and pumpkin patches to get into a spooky mood. Usually the weekend before Halloween is a party at my husband's brother's house. They live out in what we call B.F.E. (out in the middle of nowhere to put it nicely) and they have acres of woods, so that party is a blast with a bonfire, smore's, a hayride, good company, costumes, treats galore and some fun scares. When the big day arrives, we're super busy trying to get everything out and ready. We've got foggers, a light scheme, scary music etc. I sit on the porch and hand out candy, and my husband scares the crap out of everyone! He's been Leatherface, a zombie, a werewolf and a spook. I'm usually a witch, vampire or zombie. I'm proud of the number of kids we've made cry! Hey, it's my job on Halloween, and I LOVE it! Check out these links to my fave sites!
David Bowie, Drew Barrymore, the Ghost Hunters team (I love Steve!) and Elvira. A few people who are gone now that I would have liked to meet are: the amazing Vincent Price, Chris Farley, John Candy, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix and Gilda Radner.
I enjoy a WIDE variety of music. My CD case has over 200 CD's! I know, why don't I have an MP3 player or something, but we're poor, so I still have CD's. Hell, I've even got a stero in the garage that plays 8 tracks and records! I'm old school. Anyway, some of my favorite bands are: Aerosmith, AC/DC, Alice Cooper, David Bowie, Metallica, Korn, Def Leppard, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Johnny Cash, Neil Diamond, Motley Crue, The Cure, U2, Ozzy and Black Sabbath, Fleetwood Mac, Pearl Jam, Frank Sinatra, Queen, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Cher, The Rolling Stones, Enigma, Classical music and some Opera, Rob Zombie, Van Halen, 80's music especially hair bands, Coldplay, KISS, Midnight Syndicate, Pink Floyd, The Who, Disco, etc, etc. Really, the only music I can't tolerate is rap (except for Beastie Boys, Insane Clown Posse and 2 Live Crew), today's country music and Christian rock/hymns.
I LOVE horror movies. My all time favorite horror movie is the original Halloween with Jamie Lee Curtis. I don't like very many of the newer horror movies because they are all about guts and gore. For instance, the Saw movies are just gross. It's not scary, it's disgusting! There's a difference. I love vampire movies. My favorite draculas are Bella Lugosi, Frank Langella, Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee and Gary Oldman. Nosferatu was great, as was Fright Night and Salem's Lot. I like werewolf movies, and my favorites are Silver Bullet, The Howling, An American Werewolf in London, An American Werewolf in Paris and The Wolfman. Most of the Frankenstein movies are good, and I also like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original), The Fog (original), Prom Night, all Vincent Price movies, all 3 Scream movies, The Haunting (original and remake) 13 Ghosts (orig and remake), Poltergeist 1 and 2, Halloween 2, H2O and Resurrection, Amityville Horror (orig and remake), Creature from the Black Lagoon, both Elvira movies, Hell Night, Night of the Living Dead (orig), The Shining and Rosemary's Baby. Some other scary movies I like are Sleepy Hollow, The Ninth Gate, Stir of Echos, The Mummy (orig and remake), The Faculty, The Legend of Hell House and The Omen. I also enjoy the silent horror movies like Phantom of the Opera. But horror movies aren't the only thing I watch. I like chick flicks such as: Never Been Kissed, Ever After, The Bridges of Madison County, An Affair to Remember, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Bridget Jones' Diary, Moonstruck, Overboard, Practical Magic, Sabrina, Sleepless in Seattle, You've Got Mail, The Quiet Man, and Gone With the Wind. Comedies are fun too, like Tommy Boy, Shaun of the Dead, Dazed and Confused, Half Baked, Wedding Crashers, Dodgeball, Austin Powers, all the Porky's movies, Animal House, Revenge of the Nerds, The Wedding Singer and Without a Paddle. I like superhero movies such as all the X-Men and Spiderman movies, I like all the Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and Back to the Future movies, The Chronicles of Narnia and so on. I will also watch Disney movies and cartoons, but rarely dramas. Also, The Rocky Horror Picture Show is awesome! I've seen it live twice and it was a really fun time. And who hasn't seen Saturday Night Fever? Back then, John Travolta was HOT!
Ghost Hunters is my favorite t.v. show! I watch it every week, and I have all the episodes on DVD. I also like to watch Cash and Treasures and Samantha Brown on the travel channel, South Park, Bewitched, The Dog Whisperer, old Saturday Night Live episodes, The Twilight Zone, Tales from the Crypt, Family Guy and old cartoons like Tom and Jerry, Bugs Bunny and Scooby Doo. I've found a channel called GLTV, and they run old Batman and The Green Hornet episodes on Friday nights! I'm in Heaven!
Trashy romance novels are my passion! Especially historical romance, mainly books set in England, Scotland and/or Ireland. My favorite author is Bertrice Small. I love her Skye O'Malley series, The Kadin and The Love Slave. I also like Julia Quinn's Bridgerton series, Johanna Lindsey's books, Jude Deveraux's Velvet series, Kathleen Woodiwiss, Christina Dodd, Elizabeth Lowell and Catherine Coulter's Bride series. I'm starting to get into Annette Blair's books, and even though they are contemporary and not historical, I really like her colorful characters and story lines. Other books I like that aren't romance novels are all the Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia books. I've also recently discovered the Kim Harrison series of books about a witch named Rachael Morgan who is a bounty hunter living with a vampire and a pixy in a church. Very good series! Some other books I have are books on haunted places, classics like Little Women, The Crucible, Dracula and A Little Princess, a collection of stories by Richard Matheson (I Am Legend being the main story), kids books like The Halloween Tree, The Thief of Always, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Witches and Mathilda. I like poetry too, and Edgar Allan Poe is my favorite. I also have a large selection of books on Witchcraft, crystals and Halloween. Funny story about how I started reading romance novels. When I was 13 or so, my parents and I were traveling to Kentucky to see our family, and since it was a long drive, I of course was driving them nuts! So mom reached under her seat and gave me my first trashy romance novel to read. It was Night Storm by Catherine Coulter. You'd better believe they didn't hear a peep out of me for the rest of THAT trip! I still have that book, and whenever I mention it, my mom always says; "I wish I'd never given you that book." So it's all my mom's fault! But I love to read, so I would have found my way to romance novels sooner or later.
The thousands who were accused, taken from their families, stripped of all their worldly goods, then tortured and killed for being witches, when in truth they were not. Rest in peace.
