About Me

Well....here we go. I was born at the start of the (now legandary in england) summer of 1976 to the lovely and loving parents, Derek and Elaine. The middle one of three boys I landed one year before my future favorite film was released and made one independent film maker in California very, very, very rich!!Even though my parents had nothing they made sure that me and my brothers never went without a thing and got whatever we asked for....well.....maybe the ecomomy brand version atleast! At the age of three my mum took me to the Optician as she was worried about the effect of the television on my eyesight. The Opticain told my mum "He is not damaging his eyesight sitting that close to the telly, Mrs Jamieson. He is sitting that close because he can't see it!". I have worn glasses ever since. I was very lucky as a kid as we lived right next to a piece of farmland that we would go and play around in. This was a perfect training ground for me to develop my "Force abilities" and formulise my plan to start the worlds first actual "Ghostbusters" business. It seemed like a flawless business plan to me! As a kid, secretly wanting to be a Jedi, I was never really interested in music all that much. There was always loads of music in our house though. Both parents playing a varied selection of music from Ian Dury and Roxy Music to James Brown and Marvin Gaye and loads in between. My interest in music didn't really start taking shape until my older brother started listening to stuff. As most younger brothers do, I took an interest in what he did. (Whether it was Ninjas or weight lifting!) The same can be said of music. I now look back with fond memeories when I hear The Kinks, The Who, The Jam, Madness and many more. I still listen to these people now but I can truely appreciate the brilliance of thier work as I couldn't back then. My appreciation for music was crystalised, and a love affair started, one day when my brother played me two tapes. One of them was Donald D "Let the horns blow" and Public Enemy "It takes a nation of millions to hold us back". Now......I was roughly nine at the time. I had NEVER heard anything like this. EVER! It sounded so fucking exciting, I can't even begin to describe it. One of those titles has faded into the mists of time but the other one has gone on to be widely reguarded as the best Hip-Hop ablum ever made. I immediatley fell in love with Hip-Hop. (PERSONAL MESSAGE: All you kids out there that think you know Hip-Hop 'cause you got a Nelly album or you know the words to an Eminem track.....there is a hell of a lot more to it than that. What MTV shows you IS NOT Hip-Hop. Show some respect for the elements. If you don't know what I mean, you should ask someone that knows.)Fast forward to my teenage years and I have shot up in height but have not filled out so I looked all thin and bandy. I was also wearing fixed braces to straighten out my horridly crooked teeth. "Luckily" on top of all this I developed a case of cronic Acne and have masses and masses of spots all over my face, neck, back and chest. They still show their mark on me to this day. I went on a course of medication so savage that I had to carry a tea towel with me because one of the side effects was massive nose bleeds that I would not be able to clear up with tissues or a hanky alone. I can't complain. To this day I probably now get one spot every four months!! With all this baggage to carry around it's safe to say I wasn't exactly a hit with the ladies! I had some fun though. I mean, I wern't no monk or nothing. I just maybe didn't get as much as I though a man of my age should have been getting! I'm still loving my Hip-Hop and as a matter of fact, becoming quite hard headed towards music. If it dosn't sound like Hip-Hop, I don't like it.Skip on again and I'm around eighteen to twenty and doing the same as all young men do at that age. Hanging on with their friends and having fun. I was smoking weed and drinking WAY to much but loving it. Some of my mates had started going to Hardcore raves and experimenting with dance music and this didnt sound like my kind of thing so they went without me. That was cool. I would walk round my little town drinking, listening to Mobb Deep on my walkman thinking up tasty little lines I could throw in if some imaginary emcee wanted to battle me in the park! Around this time some friends made the brave choice to invest in some turntables. I instatly got a taste for it. My pre-conceived notions of dance music being mindless and boring were about to be shattered too. One day I was told I should.... "listen to this. I think you'll like it.". "I doubt it" I thought! I was played three tracks. They were "Returntothecarboottechnodiscoroadshow" Bentley Rythm Ace. "Chemical beats" Chemical Brothers. "Everybody needs a 303" Fatboy Slim. What can I say? Completly blew my mind. (This was before Tom and Ed were household names and anybody knew Fatboy was Norman Cook.) After this I started hearing things differently. I began judging things on their individual merits and not trying to Pigeon hole things as much. I moved out at twenty and after saving for (litteraly) years I got myself some turntables and developed an addiction to the worst drug of all. Records. A few years later and I was playing out in my town and being told I was doing well and sounding pretty good. From there on I have played from Bristol to Arizona to Berlin to the Essex Arms. (Shout out to the Shed crew! Thanks for throwing ya pints over my records!!)Hop, skip and jump along my timeline and.....well....I guess we are here and now. I have turned 29 plus 1 and got married to my lovely Suzanne. I have been in my job for over nine years and been the supervisor in my department for over six years. That's enough, aint it?
