British Born Errol Nicholson, known on the music circuit as the multi-talented ‘Black Steel’ is one of Britain’s finest musicians and vocalists.Born in Lewisham,Brockley,16th August(1963), South East London, England,and from a Jamaican parents.Black Steel’s eclectic musical influences have equipped him with a wealth of knowledge and skills in creating and performing world class music.His interest and foundation as a musician/vocalist started from a very early age of 3, listening to the records and the radio during the 1960’s. His music is strongly influenced by groups such as The Miracles, The Drifters,The Temtations,The Kinks, Gerry & The Pacemakers,The Honeycombs,The Rolling Stones,The Bee Gees, Dionne Worrick The Walker Brothers, Roy Orbison and many other artists and bands of that era.Black Steel developed his talents throughout school where he learnt to play the xylophone, recorder, steel drums, bass/rhythm guitar, drums, piano and keyboards in 1974 age 11. He learnt to create and re-create all the sections of any songs,from the drums right through to the lead and backing vocals. He perfected his vocals to become one of Britain’s most sought after vocalist and musician. He has spent the last twenty years touring all over the world, singing and playing in live concerts with various legend artists. Black Steel left school in 1979 age 16,joined Michael Phillips & The E&G Embarkers band playing drums,The Makka band playing drums,Sheergold band,playing rythm guitar and Street Level band playing rythm guitar.He has worked with Reggae legends such as Dennis Brown,Willie Williams, Twinkle Brothers,Della Grant,Winston(Mr Fix it)Francis,Aj Franlyn,Pikka Pow, Rupie Dan & Jennifer Gad Little Roy,Freddie Mc.Gregger,Daddy U.Roy,Dennis Alcapone,Big Youth,John Holt,Fred Locks, Michael Prophet,The Meditations,Bob Andy, Levi Roots,Rico,Ken Booth,Errol Dunkley,Eric Donaldson,Ruddy Thomas,Barrington Levi, Phillis Dillon,Laural Aikins,Pat Kelly,Uncle Alton Ellis,Uncle Joseph(Culture)Hill,Justin Hines,Susan Cadogan,Doctor Alimantardo,Augustus Pablo,Junior Delgado,Bunny Lie Lie, Norris Cole,Winston Groovy,Johnny Orlando,Jah Shaka,Carl St.Clair,Vivian Jones,Sugar Minnot,Scully & Bunny,Yabby You,Andrew Tosh,Gregory Isaacs and Max Romeo to name a few.Black Steel’s talents earned in recognition in the mainstream pop market singing with groups like The KLF, Sweet Haven (rock band)playing drums. Brian Connelly (The Sweet) and Country & Western Star, Tammy Wynette.Black Steel has also made substantial contributions to the success of many artists at the Ariwa Records, an independent recording company in South London. He created many of the original bass lines, drum patterns,keyboard melodies and backing vocals that led to a string of hits for Ariwa artists like, Sandra Cross, Sister Audrey,Lorna Gee,Aisha,Yabby you, Lee"Scratch"Perry,Kemi, Macka B,Fabion,Slim Linton,Paulett Tarjah,Sade, Yona,Intence,Ricky Tamblin,Abbey Girl,Live Wire,Carrol Thomson,Just Dale,Earl 16,Alan King Pin, The Klearview Harmonix John Mclean and Kofi and many more Various record label campanies.Black Steel was working with World Sound Music, an independent company based in Shepherd’s Bush, West London. Together with Producer Bill Campbell. Black Steel has produced a Superb Album “Black Steel sings the Classics. The album demonstrates how those early influences of 1960’s and 70’s music has shaped his career of creating good quality music.His melodic vocals compliment the well constructed music and pays a fitting tribute to the excellent song writers and music productions of that era. This is Black Steel's 30th Anniversary in the music industry.
