All the band members are close friends who have grown up together and have an enthusiasm for exciting, inventive music and an equal distaste for bland, inoffensive radio trash.After a long, frustrating and ultimatley futile search for a drummer Mr Bryceland took it upon himself to hit the skins with as much subtlety as a brick in the face as well as singing most of the songs. Mr Burrows backs up the drums with a shuddering and ear piercing bass guitar and trusty overdrive pedal. Mr McHaffie adds measured guitar lines while Mr McGhee strums seven shades of sugar from his cheap, battered guitar.Conscious Pilot are admirers of Sonic Youth, Yo La Tengo, Modest Mouse, Mogwai and The Pixies but dont sound like any of them, instead coming off like a feedback-ridden coiled spring, bursting with potential energy.
