Lead singer Josh Jackson came to Nashville in 1989 to attend college. Little did he know that it was music that would keep him there. Concentrating on songwriting and performing, Jackson founded two popular groups in the early nineties before pulling together his most successful band to date, The Josh Jackson Band. The Josh Jackson Band, featuring Josh Jackson on lead vocals and acoustic guitar; Locke Sandahl on lead guitar and background vocals; Jason Hollis on bass and background vocals; and Kris Crawford on drums; has a unique style derived from their many musical influences. Their self-titled album, a blend of power pop, roots rock and acoustic grooves, showcases Jackson’s talent for writing powerful songs. The end result is an edgy sound that people relate to – a sound that sets The Josh Jackson Band apart from the cookie cutter bands that dominate the industry today.
While The Josh Jackson Band is often compared to such big name acts as Vertical Horizon, Sister Hazel, and Train, it’s their unique musical flair and reputation for energetic live shows that has won them their own fans. And, people are taking notice. The Josh Jackson Band was voted Best New Band and Best Local Rock Band by the Nashville Scene’s 2002 “Best Of†Reader’s Poll, an honor that comes as quite a surprise to the pop/rock quartet. “I never would have thought we could be honored in this way,†says leader singer, Josh Jackson. “Our friends and fans in the Nashville community have always been supportive, but this is the ultimate in recognition.â€While the band appeals to local music lovers, the group has also found friends all over the map. The positive nature of The Josh Jackson Band’s material has gained them fans from over 15 states as well from different countries such as India, Holland, and the U.K. And, while it’s fun being recognized with accolades and having fans across the world, the band never loses sight of its purpose. “I was always brought up that whatever you do, it should have a purpose. If we are going to go out there and play music, I want people to get something out of it as well as enjoy the music,†says Jackson. The Josh Jackson Band knows where it’s been and where it’s going, and they won’t stop until they’ve reached their ultimate goal – to touch as many people as possible through their music. ..
