I am here for Friends

About Me

My name is Missy Richmond, but many of you will remember me as Missy Moody. I am married to a wonderful guy, Doug (aka: Snoopy *hey, I have ALWAYS loved Snoopy!*) who is a heavy equipment operator. We have been married for almost 6 years now. :) Our little baby, our rat terrier mix, Bambi, passed away in March 2009. We now have a mini Schnauzer named Noelle, who just turned 1 Oct 19th. She is wild and crazy and definitely keeps me busy!! lol I was diagnosed with a very rare genetic disorder called Stargardt's Disease in Nov2008 and reaffirmed at UVA in December2008. So, I am coping with a drastic amount of vision change. There is no cure, nothing they can do to help. I will lose all my vision, but if I am lucky, I may keep some peripheral only. If you want to know more about it, I blog about it above: feel free to read. I have had to give up my career, as a dental hygienist, which I did for over 15 years and loved. My whole life has changed drastically, but I am trying....with the help of God, a strong husband, wonderful family, and the best friends a girl could ever hope to find!! (btw, thanks you guys, and you know who you are!! *luv*) One second at a time, one second at a time.....and just breathe....
