About Me
Plinio Dourado: drummer, musician and student at University of Sheffield, I am self-taught musician who started my career with local artist, playing folkloric and dance rhythmm in Santarem.pa. Brazil ( Amazonian rain forest).
at Seminary catholic school where I studied to be a priest, I began to have first ideas about harmonies. Originally at 17 I started as a guitar player and
I soon discovered my talent for Drum-kit and percussion and I moved to Belem, the capital of the state where I spent several years playing,
studying and recording with many well-known artists. these include: Ze Pretinho, Moacir (rato), Walter freitas, Marcos Monteiro, Porta de Casa,grupoOficina,lucinha bastos, Ney Conceicao, Bob freitas, Sandra luiza, Nazaco, toninho, Juista Kzam, my brother Poly Dourado, Rafael Lima and also some nationally recognized artist such as: Leni Andrade, Nelson goncalves, noite Ilustrada, Alvaro Ribeiro trio and Icognitos.
Plinio Dourado, I was always research and studying differentes techniques and drummers, I used and still useing books like Gene Krupa, Jim Chapin, samba and another Brazilian Rhythms to learning the Rudiments and general skills. I listened and studied the drummer Moacir rato(sivuca batera), Magrus Borges, Kiko freitas, nene, Robertinho Silva and many others outstanding drummers. But I started to play jazz in Belem at Cosanostra playing with Contato Imediato and special guests. But it was when I moved to European Community that I really started learning what jazz is about. switzerland, Germany, France, and England were places where developed aural and hearing techniques. I went back to my roots and recorded my first Cd Solo" Brazilian Spirit of Jazz" performed in the past few years were with: Frank White, Ralf Salt, Alice Coulam, Peter Lyons,Sarah Hill, Guillermo Rozenthuler, Sally doherty, Emlyn Voughan, Nick svark, Jamie taylor, Dizzy Club,Marcos Borges,Ademir Candido,Steve black, Jandira da Silva, Henrik linneman, josue, Laudir de Oliveiras, Claudio kron Do Brazil (community Project). My vision of Brazilian jazz is inspiring me to search for: Rhythm, Harmony and melody from brazil mixed with folkloric elements, I almost interested in provide groovy sounds with bright and vibranting Drumming.
