Sounds Like: House DEEP House!!! What is DEEP? DEEP is nothing short of a phenomenon in the dance music scene in Los Angeles and beyond. It is a Sunday night place of worship for house music that brings its many revelers together. At the helm of DEEP's six-year celebration sits its originator, promoter and resident DJ Marques Wyatt. Surrounding the clubs founder/producer/DJ are hundreds of people who devote each and every Sunday night to the music emanating from the speakers at the Vanguard (6021 Hollywood Blvd. near Gower). "There are certain components that make it what it is," notes Marques. Atop that list, flowing in synchronization with the music is the most important piece of the puzzle - the crowd.DEEP was launched in January of 1999 at the Viper Room. Its walls were virgin to the sounds of house music where it soon found the scene responding to Marques' new residency and his internationally renowned roster of guests. His guests over the years read like a Who's-Who in dance music: Frankie Knuckles, Doc Martin, Miguel Migs, David Morales, King Britt, Ben Watt, Derrick Carter, Kerri Chandler, Joe Claussell, Mark Farina, Frankie Feliciano, Mark Grant, Harvey, Tony Humphries, Timmy Regisford, Ron Trent, Louie Vega, and way too many more to count.From its inception, the crowd at DEEP has been like a family, while the atmosphere is generated from that vibe. All who are part of the club are unified by a love of the music that transcends daily life and provides a weekly escape. "When I look at the crowd at DEEP, all I see is a bunch of happy people," says Marques. "What's going on there is real. The meshing of different kinds of people is something you can't buy, it just happens."
