I have been singing folk songs now for about 3 years. I usually sing at folk clubs on my own, (unaccompanied or on guitar) or with Alison Battye on flute. Me & Alison have been playing together for about 2 years. I don't get to do as much singing as i'd like to as i usually have to work on a weekday evening and there arn't as many folk clubs as i would wish at weekends. My regular folk club is the Grove in Leeds, but i also sing at Otley folk club, Croppers folk club in Cleckheaton and the Thatched House in Stanley.
Acoustic Rotherham said of a recent performance:" Heather had been in contact with me during the week because her voice had done a disappearing trick. But thanks to our advice that she should wrap up her neck – not too tightly of course – drink plenty of brandy and demand pampering from all around her, I was mighty relieved to see her sneak through the door, accompanied by her friend Alison who performed sterling work on the flute. ....
Heather, a bit like The Mashers, is relatively new to the Folk scene as a performer. She has only been singing around the Clubs for three years, which belies the maturity of performance and fantastic sound she produces, singing traditional standards. Her set was hypnotic. ....
A performer that I hope we will see a lot more of."
