About Me
(Felix himself does not run this site. This is a site for fans! Enjoy!)Zebra bassist Felix Hanemann has stepped out on his own with an independent release titled ‘Rock Candy.’ Felix’s history with Zebra dates back to 1973 when as teenagers he and Randy Jackson put together the duo, ‘Shephard's Bush.’ A couple years later they were joined by drummer Guy Gelso and Zebra was formed. The outfit kept a steady string of dates cookin’ from New Orleans to Long Island hitting every dirt-floor dive in-between. In 1982 Zebra signed with Atlantic Records and released their defining debut, which ripped a hole in the rock market. A tour with Bryan Adams and Journey established the band as arena contenders.“This has been a goal of mine for years,†explains Felix about his first solo record. “A lot of what’s happened to me over the past few years really comes out in the music on this CD.†Felix composed nine of the ten tunes on ‘Rock Candy’ ranging from the melodic country strains of ‘My My But You’re Strong (Neat’s Song)’ and ‘I Need Your Love’ to 70’s inspired ‘Reaching For Rainbows’ and ‘Odd Fellows Rest.’ Down and dirty rockers ‘Little Things’ and ‘Bad Blood’ smoke, the later being a quick favorite with its wailing harmonica - a real killer. An enormous Montrose fan, Felix thought it only proper to name the album after his favorite track off Montrose self titled platter. “Zebra has been doing ‘Rock Candy’ since our bar days,†says Felix. “Randy and Guy were very supportive and we decided to give it a shot and it came out great!†Felix remains firmly dedicated to his bandmates. Zebra continues to work hard and has a newly released live record taken from broadcast shows recorded during 1983-85 on King Biscuit Flower Hour.(http://www.thecutting-edge.net/felix.html)Rock Candy
The working title was Little Things, (the old website littlethings.net) which is a song by me on this album and is also on Zebra's second album, No Tellin Lies; but as I moved forward with the project I thought Rock Candy would be the best choice. Rock Candy, as I'm sure many of you know, is a song that I sing with Zebra when we play live shows. Rock Candy has been recorded for this album with Randy Jackson and Guy Gelso for the first time anywhere. Rock Candy is an original song by the group Montrose, featuring Ronnie Montrose on guitar and Sammy Hagar on vocals. Anyway, Rock Candy has been adopted by me and is associated with me featuring the song........so I decided since everyone associates Rock Candy with me, then that would be the best title for the album. There are ten tracks on the album and the titles are: Little Things, Jonathan Jones, If You Try, Rock Candy, Inspiration, Bad Blood, Odd Fellows Rest, Reaching For Rainbows, My My But You're Strong (Neat's Song), and last but not least I Need Your Love.Rock Candy

FelixI'd like to thank my family, friends and fans for visiting the website. Rock Candy is my very first solo album.! I'm extremely excited about it and thought I'd introduce you to the project and the history. All songs were recorded at Courtesy Studios in West Hempstead N.Y. for KMA records, which started around October 1998. The album was recorded by my very close friend Bruce Zwelsky who is the co-producer and engineer. I wrote, played and produced the entire project. There are several key players on this album and they are: Mike Sorrentino on drums...Mike did an amazing job on the drum tracks and plays on seven tracks out of the ten. Mike joined the project through performing with Zebra at live shows in 1998. I'd like to thank Mike for all of his patients and talent. He gave strength to all of the tracks that he played on. Hernan Romero appears on the cut, I Need Your Love , playing phenominal flaminco guitar. Hernan Romero is an internationally renowned artist who has played with Al Dimeola, Stevie Nicks and other major artists and has graced my album with his great energy and talent. Lead guitar and harmonica are as hot and sweet as you can get with Tom Giannandrea. Tom has performed with many bands on the Long Island circuit and gives a solid rock element to three tracks; If YOu Try, Little Things and harmonica on Bad Blood. Jim Carol plays tablas on Inspiration helping provide an exciting Eastern sound to the track and good vibes all around. On Odd Fellows Rest, Tom Staab sings backing vocals in the chorus, creating a spooky, dark and haunting sound. Last but not least on guitar and drums on the title track Rock Candy are Randy Jackson and Guy Gelso. I'd like to thank both of them for taking the time to come to the studio to get it all down. As I said before this is the first time anywhere that Rock Candy has been recorded by all three of us. I'd like to thank all of the players for doing such a great job, but most of all to my friend Bruce Zwelsky for helping me realize my dream and making this album come to life. I'd also like to thank Lisa Ripi for giving me the confidence and the courage to see it through!Sincerely,
Felix(http://www.glass-castle.com/clients/www-rockcandy-net/
