Richard Eigner & Roman Gerold

About Me

Roman Gerold and Richard Eigner write spook-inducing ambient tracks that ransack your cranium’s music shelves for boxes marked »Electronica«, »Jazz« and »Minimal Music«. Their hypnotic passages won them Austria’s Elektronikland Award (for experimental electronics) in 2003 and 2005.

Originally founded for creating the soundtrack to the dance piece »Urgent Appetite« by Canadian choreographer Laura Kappel, they continued working together and since then presented their music at the Sónar Barcelona and Ars Electronica Festival, at the Red Bull Music Academy in Melbourne and at countless venues in Austria.

While Roman wrote a few more scores for films, dance pieces and video-games, Richard was also involved in countless other musical endeavors – he played drums on Patrick Wolf’s album »Magic Position«, worked half a year for Patrick Pulsinger, helping on remixes and building a sound library and played drums with the likes of Franz Hautzinger, Flying Lotus, Pamelia Kurstin, Hilary Jeffery and many more. His composition »Concrete Leaves« was selected by Bruce LaBruce for his melancholy gay zombie movie »Otto or up with dead people« alongside tracks by Coco Rosie and Throbbing Gristle.
