Barbiana Complex

About Me

Barbiana Complex, a Hoboken-based art/noise band, has played legendary New York City clubs, such as CBGB, Continental, and Sin-e, over the past 10 years. Influences include Sonic Youth and Patti Smith.Featuring singer/songwriter Barbara Solsky on vocals/guitar and Mike McCann (True Detectives) on drums/percussion/laptop, the band recently performed parts 1 and 2 of Statue Strikes at 12, a new piece in progress, with guitarist David First of the Notekillers. David also contributed a haunting guitar solo to the newest track, "Careless."In 2000, Barbiana Complex released an EP, "Year of the Dog," and as a 5-piece band, recorded the single, "Professor and Maryann/Suspended Animation."Now primarily a trio with Warren Kitt on bass and other guest musicians, Barbiana Complex is currently recording the complete Statue Strikes at 12 piece, as well as other new material, and preparing for more live performances in 2009. The latest tracks, an excerpt from Statue Strikes at 12 performed live at ABC No Rio, NYC, "Careless," and "My Mistake (Ghost Version)," are currently available on www.myspace.com.
