About Me

It all started with Neil writing a few songs on his own and playing acoustically at open mic nights for awhile. However, he always had the urge to start up a rock band. In November of 2007, he had began his search for band members. He had contacted some people who he knew from before: a drummer, a guitar player, and also bassist named Nic. When they first got together and started jamming out for a few days, they had realized that they had musical chemistry. Thus, a band called Case In Point was born. On December 21st 2007, the band played their first show at Pec Theater in Pecatonica, IL introducing their first major song, "Feels Like Fire". The show went extremely well and the crowd was very pleased with their performance.
From that point, it was only just the beginning of a long journey to come...
On January 11th 2008, Case In Point played at a venue in Rockford, IL called The Rock Box, where they first played "Potential" live. After the band had played a few shows, they had parted ways from Nic (due to availability for shows) and their drummer (due to a need of more technicality with drumming). Later on, Neil and the guitar player had found a flier of a drummer named Jason Lammon, who had always wanted to be in a band for so long. They also just so happened to find another bassist through Myspace. During the summer of 2008, they would all practice at Jason's house. The guys had also made many accomplishments during that summer: a photo shoot with Joe Lohr Photography, recording with The Fuse Studio in Rockford, IL (with Jeffro mixing the recordings in Milwaukee, Wisconsin), and playing many shows. On May 30th 2008, Case In Point played their first show with Jason and their new bassist at LT's Bar & Grill in Rockford, IL introducing "The Daily Grind" and "The Knife" to the crowd. While playing the show, the crowd was amazed by their performance, especially with Jason's phenomenal drumming. Show after show during the course of that summer, the band had developed and grew closer together. They also competed in the Emerging Artist Competition 2008 put on by Guzzardo Music in Rockford, IL, making it into the Top 7 out of 24 bands.
On September 13th 2008, Case In Point headlined at Davis Junction Days. It was their first time ever playing outdoor at night. This was sadly their last show that they ever played together, due to very unfortunate news.
On October 23rd 2008, their drummer Jason Lammon was hit by a car while waiting for his school bus one morning. He was immediately rushed to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. The next morning at 7:30am, Jason had passed away. The band was very devastated with their loss. An autopsy was performed afterward, which diagnosed Jason with trauma to the head. Neil was then inspired to write a song dedicated to Jason Lammon called "Rhythm In The Sky". On November 1st 2008, Neil and the guitar player first released "Rhythm In The Sky" at Jason's funeral, which was held in the auditorium of Auburn High, Jason's high school. On November 14th 2008, Neil and the guitar player played the Jason Lammon Memorial Show at LT's Bar & Grill in Rockford, IL. Case In Point parted ways from their bassist not too long afterward due to going away for Master's Commission.
Later in November of 2008, Case In Point's initial bassist, Nic, was welcomed back in the band, along with a new drummer named Richard. They slowly started working their way back up to learning all of the songs. On December 16th 2008, Case In Point went into Red Door Studio to record a new song they had all written called "Night of Wander". Before the recording of the song was completely finished, the band had parted ways from their guitar player due to musical/business/personal differences.
A few months after the band had finished the recording of "Night of Wander", the guys went through and auditioned a few guitar players for Case In Point. One day, Nic and Richard consulted a guitar player they knew named Jake to try out for the band. As soon as Neil met Jake and saw he had the playing ability for the band, the band agreed to make Jake their lead guitarist.
This is the story, up until now. As you have read, lots of things have happened, but the story isn't done. If anything, it has only just begun.
R. I. P. Jason Kyle Lammon (1992-2008)
You were not only an amazing drummer, but you were also a very good friend and band mate. Nothing will replace all those good times we had together and nobody will ever replace you as a drummer. You will always be a brother of Case In Point. We will keep rockin' in your honor, bro!
