Kyoshi

Father of the 2009 Uechi World Cup Kumite Silver Medalist.Kyoshi Al Bennett has been involved in Uechi-Ryu since 1966. He studied directly under Grand Master James Thompson, and has been involved with the Uechi-Ryu Karate-Do Kokusai Association since it's beginning. Kyoshi Bennett has also trained in Japan and Okinawa with the Uechi and Shinjo Family. Kyoshi Bennett has entered multiple times in the Okinawan World Championship held in Okinawa, Japan, placing 9th in the world twice. Kyoshi Bennett has had multiple dojo locations across the United States – Michigan, Minnesota, Florida, California, Indiana, and Colorado. There are currently 33 black belts awarded under Kyoshi Bennett. Some of his black belts have opened up their own schools in Michigan, Florida, Philadelphia, and even Guam and Tokyo for a time, and some have taught Uechi-Ryu Karate-Do while in the U.S. Marine Corps.
