About Me

Hey. I am MC, or Marie-Claire, i was born in Quebec city now I'm based in Montreal, where I'm finishing a masters in composition. Even though I don't know where the music will take me, so far it has been a great journey. It's taken me to many places where I wouldn't have expected to go: in the Rocky Mountains, in the norwegian fjords, and in a small practice room at mcgill university. I play mostly my original music with a quintet in Montreal, but I try to take every opportunity to write for larger ensembles. Right now I am traveling to Norway and Berlin, checking out the amazing mountains and the improvised music scenes there. When I have time to spare, I bake cookies. And with an extra dose of motivation, I meditate. I'm planning to be enlightened soon....But so far, I think I still need to practice. A bit.

Band Members: Members of my quintet on these tracks are; David Carbonneau (trumpet), Jean-Nicolas Trottier (trombone), Sebastien Pellerin (bass), Alain Bourgois (drums). I play piano or Rhodes. The piece Polar was recorded by the McGill Orchesra I at McGill University in April 2008.

Sounds Like: Hopefully my music sounds like me. I mean like me when I play music. I mean, when I play music that I think sounds like what I am.
