About Me

The Art of Performance

Hi Everyone, I’m Lucy, and this is the Myspace page for my Performance and Music Coaching – a unique and worthwhile programme for musicians, vocalists, bands, actors, and anyone in the state of mind wanting to perform - even if you have a big presentation, job interview or audition, this is a way of getting a head-start over all the others.
Please feel free to visit the newly improved website: www.theartofperformance.co.uk!
I’ll give you a bit of background about me and what I do:
Firstly, there are the qualifications (Diploma and BA Honours Degree in Contemporary Music), which I obtained from The Academy of Contemporary Music – Europe’s NO.1 contemporary music school. I’ve been in several bands, recorded in different studios across the country, most famously at Olympic Studios in Barnes, London – former home to Jimi Hendrix and U2.
So maybe you’re wondering, ‘why does she think she can teach performance skills?’ I can answer that by saying, I’ve been performing in every which way possible for the past 13 years, in acting, singing, stage performing, dancing and music in general. The skills I’ve learned over the past 3-4 years at the Academy have served as my training for this venture – and after watching, learning and participating in the craft of performance day after day, I’ve managed to become an adaptable performer, bending the craft to each and every type of music – from dance, electronica to heavy metal to rap, grime and to pop or jazz.

Who I Coach:

If you do something that makes you PERFORM then it’s always do-able. I coach bands of ANY genre, vocalists, solo musicians, musicians who are in bands but want separate coaching, actors, performing poets, dancers, public speakers, street performers, auditionees... and anyone in the industry of creativity!

What Happens?

There are many ways of coaching this particular speciality but I can tailor-make your programme or sessions so that you can get the best out of each and every one. For example, you might want to work on your stage movement, or your posture. You might need help with addressing your audience, or an audition of some sort. Maybe you have stage fright or the shakes on stage? Or perhaps you just want to get your performance to the best level possible.
But most importantly, I try to give you a much deeper understanding of what makes a blinding performer, both solo and in a band, theatre performance or any kind of other project.
The way I do this is through many different techniques, including discussions, physical and mental exercises, watching you perform or watching a video-tape of the same nature, and generally finding out what makes you tick and what makes you inhibited, so that we can find a way to work towards your targets.
If you’re a VOCALIST, I can also provide VOCAL COACHING or we can mix the two things up.
The one thing that I can do that nobody else does is come to your gigs – whatever they may be – and take notes on your performance. I can even bring a video camera that will help you make big progress – as looking at yourself onstage is something people rarely get to do – and it is so beneficial, even if everyone does find it a bit embarrassing. But that’s exactly what I’m here to help you get over! Of course, you don't HAVE to be video'ed!

Studio Coaching

If you want, I can also coach you during your studio time so that you can gain the most out of your session and be able to perform more comfortable in a studio environment, rather than onstage.
We can work in a rehearsal studio or venue of your choice at a practice or even after a gig or session – it’s up to you! The one thing that I do ask is that if you are more than 45 minutes away from Guildford/London, we arrange to meet halfway in between or travel expenses are met. Rehearsal room or venue charges must be met by the client.
ALL coaching is completely and utterly confidential. As are emails and any correspondence we might have. Unless you would like me to list you as someone I have worked with.
If there are any more questions you need to ask me then PLEASE feel free to go ahead. I am open to all kinds of people and all walks of life, so please don’t feel like you can’t ask me anything.

Coaching Pricing:

Please bear in mind that these are the standard prices that would apply to a vocal coach (even though this is not vocal coaching unless you request it, it is in the same price bracket – feel free to do your research! Also, the band price is slightly higher because there are more people involved!
