Dragnet Records was started in January 2000 by A Frames as a way to release our first recordings, which were also recorded that month. In August, we released two 7" records. The first was the Neutron Bomb 7" by A Frames, the second was Girlfriends & Boyfriends by The Intelligence. We started discussions of releasing a 7" of Stick Men With Ray Guns material, but ultimately it was not in the cards.
In June 2001, we released the last recordings of Sacramento punk legends Los Huevos. They broke up in 1998 but we knew these songs had to come out. In October 2001, we released the last recordings of Double Fudge, a 7" called "Take You For a Ride." They had broken up around 1999 (?) but since March 2001 had resurfaced as Unnatural Helpers.
In June 2002, we co-released with S-S Records the first A Frames LP.
Sometime in late 2003, we released the Vulvettes CD "This Is the Science We Believe In."
Dragnet was not a well run label. It was pretty obvious all along that we had no clue about selling records, and little motivation. We all had jobs - this was a hobby. But still, all the vinyl was sold eventually. The website we had was updated all the time in the first years, selling mailorder, listing shows, changing mp3 downloads, writing news posts, posting photos. Eventually I ran out of enthusiasm for keeping all that up.
The Vulvettes CD is still available. Please contact me to buy one.
