Formed in Canterbury during the long hot summer of 2004, Artist is made up of siblings Charlie, Noah and Sam Kay along with friend Nick Headon. Bringing together their diverse influences [The Police, Sigur Ros, Jeff Buckley, Bloc Party, Missy Higgins, Coldplay, Bedouin Soundclash, John Mayer, Incubus...] the group, they have set about creating their own unique sound.
In September 2007, Artist funded & released their debut album "A Muddle and a Mess", produced by band member Nick Headon & mixed & recorded by local legend Phil Wilson at his Canterbury studios.
