About Me

This new Project, assumedly old-school heavy metal, comes out of ALKATEYA’s departure of its frontman and vocalist, João Pinto, the drummer Manuel “Animal” and guitarist Pedro Simões. These three guys plus Pedro Mendes, the former bassist from G.A.R.(an old Portuguese rock band from the 90s, whose vocalist was Miguel Pinto, lead vocals from one of the very first heavy metal bands in Portugal, SEPULCRO) assembled GARGULA in September 2007. Due to professional demands, Manuel “Animal” was unable to continue and in November himself presented Paulo Caldas, as a possible substitute, which he became after the first full rehearsal.
In December GARGULA started recording 3 new songs, “The Bets Are On”, “Eager” and “V 12”, recorded and mixed at Lxpro studio (Odivelas) and mastered by Mika Jussila, of FinnVox Studios.Recordings at LxPro on December 2007
In September of 2008, the drummer Paulo Caldas had to leave the band, and was replaced by Artur Mendes, which already performed the drums recordings for the new 3 tunes that are about to be uploaded in Myspace: 1. Fire & Wind; 2. No Turn Away (the Gladiator’s fate); 3. S.O.S. Stay alert!”

Influences:

The influences are clearly classic heavy metal (final 70's, 80's) and some of the more modern power metal.

Sounds Like:

Gargula plays a Heavy Metal that can be classified as the synthesis of a wide range of heavy rock styles: since the very beginning of the stone age of hard rock, passing through the more melodic passages of some reference bands of the 80’s into the powerful rough style and beat of present Metal sound. But better than any words, is letting You check it out yourself!
