DW PROJECT (THE LEGACY LIVES ON)The Wright Family is one of the most distinguished and anointed families on the gospel scene. Reverend Timothy Wright (Godfather of Gospel) Sons David (organist), Dwayne (bassist), Donny (drummer), Derrick (drummer), and Danny Wright are abundantly blessed with gospel genes from their father Godfather of Gospel Reverend Timothy Wright. This family is considered a major force in the direction of the contemporary choir sound. As David states on the liner notes for the Exclusive Pre-Release regarding all his brothers; “They all have each others back and God has our back.” On this independent project, The DW Project Singers, cover alot of ground - the ever faithful hymns, many touches of contemporary gospel, an instrumental demonstrating the brothers' diverse musical abilities, and some back-to-basics church service music. Between the brothers, they have logged many years of service to the church community, especially in their native New York, with musician mentors like there dad Rev. Timothy Wright, Melvin Crispell, James Hall, and Butch Heyward. They have also participated in most of Reverend Wright's recordings with The New York Fellowship Mass Choir, as well as the Concert Choir also including one of gospel's influential recordings from a couple of years ago, Jesus Jesus Jesus which was written by their mom C0-Pastor Betty Wright. The poignant title track recalls personal tales of struggling victims still calling on the Almighty during post-Hurricane Katrina events. Let this exclusive worship time begin with David Wright has been on the scene with his dad since he was old enough to play. He equates his ability to play the organ to his dad Rev. Timothy Wright. David who after a 3 day shut-in and fast began playing the organ with no lessons. He has recorded well over 15 albums and produced some of gospel music's greatest such as New York Fellowship's Live In NY (2003), which was nominated for two Stellar Awards, Let's Celebrate (2004), also nominated for a Stellar Award and let us not forget the most recent, Jesus Jesus Jesus (2007) not only nominated for two Stellars but nominated for a Grammy award as well. This song was a much needed ballad for a depressed world that after hurricane katrina appeared to have no hope. David says " What a blessing it was to be able to Produce a song Written by his mother Co-Pastor Betty Wright and Sung by his dad Rev. Timothy Wright" Dwayne Wright bass player extraordinaire, is in his early 20s and has accomplished more in a few years than many have accomplished in many. He has recorded over 20 albums and has been on the road with the greats such as Mary Mary, Floetry, Jill Scott, The Anointed Pace Sisters, and so many others, not to mention his dad the late great Rev. Timothy Wright. Dwayne ranks among the top 5 bass players in the country. He is also a composer and writer, having the ability to write as well as produce has made him a force to be reckoned with. He equates his success to his mom the late Co-Pastor Betty Wright. Derrick Wright a drumming expert has also been on the scene with his dad as early as he can remember. He has also traveled the country with his dad. He has been playing the drums even before he can reach the seat and pedal. He has played for some the best R & B artist such as Toni Braxton, and many others. As Derrick states his first love is gospel and he will continue to play his dad’s music, so that the legacy can live on. Donny Wright drummer has been on the scene for many years he also is a sought after drummer who was actually one of the first to record with his dad as soon as he was old enough to do so. He has traveled and played for Intro and so many others. He has recorded over 20 albums and has attributed his success to his mom and dad. Danny Wright the eldest son often referred to as the rock that holds the boys together, has always been the strength for his brothers and there protected them. This album will bless your life; it is an album that after being out only 2 weeks was sold out online. The song titled He Was There states God is always available during those difficult days and under any difficult circumstance. Jessica Price lends an encouraging message without the over the top lead voice. Taking a roller coaster, funky rhythmic ride, Free declares that believing Christ died for our sins and receiving Christ into our lives gives us the ultimate freedom. Jmica 's sensitive tenor is punctuated with delightful squeals. Demetrius Griffin, known as the ‘Baritone of Gospel,' bridges the gap between classical, jazz, and gospel for his composition, I Need You . The eight-minute piece is a stirring musical and praise experience capturing Griffin’s pure heart in remaining a new creature in Christ: “I need you to talk to me so I won't go astray.” Earl Jones Jr., a psalmist who has been mentored by Reverend Wright, fuels This Is The Day ( Psalms 118:24 ), written by praise and worship songwriter/recording artist Tim Clifton . Besides the newer material, there are two sets of hymn medleys presenting different vocal and instrumental temperaments. Hymn focuses on the gentle but soulful voice of Sean Hall, who aptly handles songs like Revive Us Again and There Is A Fountain with elegant piano accompaniment. The Hymns incorporates a male trio including Hall, and a meatier organ accompaniment. Beginning with solo turns on Tis ' So Sweet to Trust in Jesus and Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing, the later half transitions into masterful interaction between the three solid tenors on Crown Him Lord Of All . NO DW project is complete without Reverend Wright's passionate delivery on two tracks utilizing opposing musical approaches. He Saved My Soul, an urban-flavored praise and worship song about the one who died on Calvary to give us life and set us free, features a duet with R&B vocalist Jaiden . A revamped version of What A Friend, another duet with son Dwayne "DW” Wright, puts the fundamental church service oomph on What A Friend We Have In Jesus. As many gospel followers are aware, there has been a recent unfortunate turn-of-events for the Wright family as an auto accident took the lives of Reverend Wright's wife, Co-Pastor Betty Wright, and Danny Wright's grandson, Daniel ‘DJ' Wright Jr., and ultimately taking the life of Rev. Timothy Wright. However, this recorded body of work is impeccably timed by the Lord to begin the process of healing for those surviving members and their church family at Grace Tabernacle COGIC. Every track is graced with lots of testimony, fresh arrangements devoid of production gimmicks, and undeniably first rate musicianship and vocals from everyone involved. The DW PROJECT would not be complete without there talented and anointed singers Ericka Riggins, Geneatha Wright, Tynesha Hill, Asia Johnson, Jessica Price, Chris Holmes, Douglas Jones, Danielle Kelley and AJ Johnson. The DW Project Exclusive Pre-Release is available at www.cdbaby.com .
