DJ Reazon hasbeen trying to use music to change the minds of those that think Hip-Hop is not a form of art.While attending Campus West, DJ Reazon, a.k.a. Jason Redding, would makebeats on his desk and in the lunch line. His teacher would say, “Jason has aproblem paying attention and staying still in classâ€, but he felt he waspreparing himself for his music career. During his creative, freestyledrumming sessions another student became aware of his talent for imitationand they soon became friends.JHeat a.k.a. Jason Howard, was an aspiring writer and rapper and he and DJReazon would perform together for friends and each other before, during andafter school. Many times spending hours after homework and on weekendswriting.After attending Lafayette High School and later majoring in the Culinary Artsand Hospitality program at Emerson High School in Buffalo, Jason Reddingand Jason Howard would eventually become business partners.In 2001 these friends decided to focus all of there attention on a sharedpassion for producing and creating music. 2001 is also the year JasonRedding adopted the stage name DJ Reazon.Developing Flawless Records into Buffalo’s newest up and coming Hip-Hoprecording company has been a daunting task. DJ Reazon has found out thatcreating a company on an artistic foundation can be difficult without artistswho want to perform because they love it! A true hip-hop aesthetic is onebuilt on truth and reality and that’s what Flawless Records is trying to build.At present Flawless Records has four cd’s under its belt Flawless Freestyles,1000 Barz, V.3 and JHeat’s solo cd It’s TimeDJ Reazon regards his early professional influences in his family. Hisgrandmothers love of Gospel, his mother’s classic soul collection and hisuncle’s passion for jazz all rank high in his music files. Also in his files aremotion picture scores, soundtracks and classical orchestrations he listened tofrom Warner Brothers and Hanna Barbera cartoons. George Gershwin’sRhapsody in Blue and unforgettable classics like The Flight of the Bumblebeewere among his favorites.He also credits his uncle, artist Rodney Taylor, for making him aware of theconnection between fine art, music and current affairs.“He’s shown me that together the three can represent a visual, audio,emotional, historical time-line.â€, says DJ Reazon.Miles Davis, Henry Mancini and contemporary hip-hop producers Timbalandand the RZA from the WU Tang Clan and the reality of everyday life inBuffalo are all acknowledged as having major effects on his sound.DJ Reazon has appeared on WBNY radio and he has performed at Buffalo’s2005 Juneteenth Festival, Nietzches, Rockwell Hall, Niagara Falls High Schooland The Allen Street Dance Studio
