Grange Hill first aired on 8th February 1978. Its creator Phil Redmond ( who also scripted the early episodes ) broke the mould for children's television with his realistic portrayal of school life. The early Grangel Hill storylines covered bullying , playground hi-jinks, uniform rebellion, and even school dinner protests. Over the years Grange Hill has covered more serious issues, from rasiscm, child abuse, suicide , teenage pregnancy and playground knifings. In 1986 Grange Hill hit the headlines with it's Zammo McGuire's herion addiction. It was a powerful storyline which even resulted in the release of a cast single called 'just say no' and a national anti-drugs campaign. However it was the early years of Todd Carty ( Tucker Jenkins ), Terry Sue Patt ( Benny Green ), Michelle Herbert ( Trisha Yates ), Lucinda Duckett ( Ann Wilson ) Robert Morgan ( Justin Bennet ) and Mark Savage ( Gripper Stebson )to name but a few that started it all off. I too went through my school years with them ,I even suffered some of the things they did ( ie spots, teenage rebellion inside and outside the school and doomed school romances ). As Grange Hill is celebrating 30 years this year, I thought I'd look back and pay tribute to all those involved in the 'Grange Hill'. There will be photo's, memories of the characters they played, and what their upto nowadays. If their are any of the cast past or present that you would like me to feature please let me know.
