What's up people of Myspace? Thanks for stopping in.
I wanted to write about my accident that had happened to me almost three years ago. On December 9 2004 I was in an accident that left me paralyzed from the waste down.
I operated heavy equipment for 16 years and loved it. I operated a piece of equipment called a 657e scraper. If you go look at my pics you can see what i'm talking about.
I had what they called a L1 burst fracture and incomplete spinal cord injury, that left me with no feeling or movement from the waste down at the time. I had a 10 hour surgery, the had to replace my L1 with a titanium spacer and fuse my back from the L2 to the T12. As you could imagine i thought that i couldn't go on. Then started my rehabilitation.
I started getting a little bit of feeling back about a month after the accident. First my toes started moving just a little, but it was something new. I thought i would never walk again. Can you imagine how you would feel, it's not a good feeling. So another month went bye and I was actually on my feet with a walker. I can still remember my first two steps that i was able to take, it was AWESOME.
Now for the first time since the accident I actually believed that i would walk again.
Finally after three months I was able to take care of myself enough that I was able to go home. All in all i'm doing pretty good now. I can walk using a cane and for long days I have to use a wheelchair. I still have some nerve pain from the waste down. Thats all right though.
I just wanted to see if there's anyone else that has had this type of injury or knows someone how has. I would like to hear from them.
Thank You
