litebox (LTBX) is a four-piece alternative rock band from Queens, New York. Band members include Sherwin Maxino (vocals/guitar), Alexander Mathew (keyboard/guitar/backing vocals), Deborah Kwon (bass), and Yvonne Maxino (drums). The band was officially formed in October 2007 after Sherwin and Alexander met in school. When the two decided to achieve a fuller sound, Sherwin recruited younger sister, Yvonne, and elementary school buddy, Deborah. Despite the members’ various influences and musical backgrounds, litebox is united by a strong passion for writing and performing music.
The band has performed in a number of spaces in the local-NYC area. They have played at colleges, schools, clubs, bars, and parties. Their most recent performances were at the rock venue, Don Hill’s, and Rock Me TV Studios’ new online showcase. One of the highlights of the band’s career thus far has been their performance/participation in the Relay For Life charity event at City College. The band personally supports non-profit organizations.
At the moment, litebox is recording rough demos with a small, independent studio. By taking an aggressive online promotion approach, the band has been able to gain a strong MySpace following. The members of the band are in a continual process of writing new material, but welcomes any opportunities to play for an audience.
