Jake.M is an independent artist also known as J. Mackowiak. "I have been an artist my entire life. I'm constantly in search of new mediums. My musical influences began with hip hop. I love the way a DJ uses the turntables to create new sounds live. As I began to learn more about mixing, my interests widened to include jungle, techno, house and reggae."
"Now I enjoy experimenting with different ways of recording and mixing. I have been producing audio for over ten years and enjoy working with both software and hardware. On the computer I have worked with many different titles, including Reason, Soundtrack, Logic and Pro Tools. My hardware at home includes a full turntable setup for playing vinyl, a small CDJ-200 for digital playback and looping, and an old Yamaha RM1X sequencer."
"This website is designed to highlight some of my favorite recordings. I try to change the lineup as much as possible. This page is all about my audio recordings so you won't see any of my other pieces here. The player should include a variety of different styles. I am more interested in coming up with something new than sounding like something you've already heard."
"Finally, this is not a campaign. I try to stay away from terms like "making beats" and "DJ". I also try not to post everything online and over-promote. (I'm an artist, not a promoter) The tracks you see here on MySpace are arranged to give you a sample of my style rather than a list of published work. I love music and believe in quality over quantity. I also really enjoy getting feedback on my work (positive and negative) so feel free to leave a comment."
You can see Jake playing vinyl at many different events in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Upcoming shows will always be posted here on MySpace. Booking inquiries, comments and questions should be sent through the MySpace message link on this page. Thank you.
