First of all I remember dad playing Mario Lanza on the house record player, then listening to Al Jolson, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, to this day I am heavily into Sinatra and Lanza.
Rock and Roll came along through my Mothers collection of singles, Paul Anka, Shadows, Ray Charles etc; our Mom also had the Brillant ''Lover Please'' by the Vernon Girls which even to this day Stands Proudly in our Record Collection.
Something clicked with this music and me and my brother loved it. We would spend hours messing and recording things when we where very young on our Moms Reel to Reel tape Machine.
Collecting singles and albums was our main purpose for spare time. We started putting our R'n'R show together when we were in our late teens - circa 1985.
We started putting on Gigs in Brum and had a regular nite on Wednesday at Rosie O'Brians where we Booked Bands (including 2 Gigs with a New Band called HBC which at the time cost us £150 to Book) .
We also Organised the Birmingham Alldayers (5 with Big Daddy & 2 By ourselves)with Big Daddy which became very Popular and Successful. We was Contacted by Doc in the Early 90s (who is sadly missed on the Scene now) and asked to do the Hemsby Weekends T.V with Captain Drugbuster. This lead us to become Regular DJs at all the Weekenders. we have been asked back to hemsby weekenders after 10 years and are looking forward to working at hemsby again .
We played up North, South, mainly London as our names the Flattop Brothers. Have had some crazy times, laughs, and late nights. My brother is the record collector and is the best music mixer on this scene.
Our albums are avaliable at many rockin' record stalls.
