Eureka A. Wright’s musical journey began at the age of 8 when she sang her first solo publicly at a talent show. Being a shy child, she was surprised at how comfortable she felt behind the mike. The product of vocally talented parents and family members, it seemed inevitable that Eureka would be destined for a life and love of music. She began her formal training at age 13 attending the Sewell Conservatory of Music in Washington, DC where she was carefully guided under the tutelage of Ms. Mona Jones. She decided to continue her vocal studies and was accepted at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts, an arts high school also in Washington, DC. At Ellington she received further instruction in vocal performance from Mrs. Dorothy Dash. Later during her tenure at Howard University, Mrs. Regina McConnell took Eureka under her wing and brought her to an even better understanding of the gift that God had placed on the inside of her.Though Eureka was receiving vocal training with its roots grounded in classical music, she had grown up in the church and had a special love for gospel music. Thus after graduating from high school, she joined a group called the Keyth Lee Singers combining her vocal abilities with that of Maurette Brown (Clark), Kevette Cartledge (Burwell), Gwendolyn Ross (McDowell) and Andre Barnes. Together, these five young people, led by a young prodigy, Mr. Keyth Lee, would create a unique sound that would take them up and down the east coast spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. They would later share the stage with such renowned recording artists as BeBe and CeCe Winans.Eureka was later afforded the opportunity to travel across the country with Maurette Brown Clark whom she has been with since the beginning of Maurette’s solo career. Eureka thoroughly enjoys the profound impact that Maurette’s ministry is making on the world. Eureka believes that “It is Maurette’s desire to give God her absolute best. It is both wonderful and encouraging to see an artist whose sole desire is to please God with her whole heart. I love being a part of her ministry.â€It has been these opportunities along with many others that have helped shape Eureka into the psalmist that she is today. She has sung both classical and gospel music at the Kennedy Center and was accompanied by the National Symphony Orchestra on occasion. She has traveled extensively singing at conferences in Durban, South Africa and London, England and all over the United States. In addition, she traveled for a year with William Becton and Friends reminding the world to “Be Encouraged†despite their circumstances. But even with all of these accomplishments, Eureka realizes that “There’s no point in doing any of this if God is not glorified in all of it. I want to be a living epistle read of men. I know that only what I do for Christ will last!â€
