Still growing; taking it to the next level

About Me

Miss lolamarya began writing at the age of 9; being inspired by a Christian rapper from Texas named D-Boy whom she met after a concert. She and her classmates soon realized that she had a natural talent to write, rap, and sing. Along with a group of students from her fifth grade class, she formed a rap group called Four Hype which performed several times for the school at different functions. During her high school years, lolamarya sang in her church choir and began to develop and mature her writing which was evolving to poetry. She rapped at several church functions (including youth conferences) during this time, but eventually put rap on the back burner. Her poetry skill was growing, so she concentrated on that while continuing to sing. As lolamarya got older, she realized that her poetry had become a spoken word style and that she could never lose her love for rap and incorporating spoken word, rap, and singing became a deeper desire. She is now working on a compilation of poetry and autobiographical stories to be published as her first book, and recording to put out an album. Miss lolamarya says her goal is "to share my experiences, emotions, and observations and at the same time glorify God in the end of all I do. I do have some work that can be seen as controversial to the religious, but I refuse to censor any of it because in the end, you will see that I turn to God. I talk about what is real because even Christians go through these things. Some people want to sugar-coat everything and pretend as if no one who is in the church is struggling with sexual sin, alcohol and drug abuse, insecurities, bad relationships, etc., but we are. And if I have to be the one to reveal, then I will."
