**About Angelika Niescier**
Angelika Niescier is " (...) one of the most independent young voices of the german jazz scene and has created a genuine style of her own. The idiosyncratic nature of her music, her saxophone playing, based as it is on her outstanding musical technique, is totally convincing. With her imaginative, energy-laden, highly expressive mode of playing, which she infuses with musical elements from other cultures, she is able to awaken in her audience an enthusiasm for the broad many-facetted appearance of modern jazz." Niescier performs all over Europe and abroad (a.o. for the "Goethe Institut" in Central Asia and Korea). Her work includes projects in pure musical context as well as combinig music and other arts, composing and performing music for movies, New Dance Companies, for chamber- orchestra, choir and theatre. Her focus ist to merge strict writing- conceptions with the emotional depth, sound and possibilities hidden in improvised music. ------------------------------------------------------------ -------------

• 2008 - first „Improviser In Resindence“ in Moers (Germany) connected with the Moers Festival- the international reknown festival for contemporary improvised music
•2007 - Promotion for Concerts of Female Composers.. from NRW by the National Music Council with the project "Poetry Of Rhythm" Duo with Andre Nendza and the stringquartett kaj:kaj
• 2006 - Promotion for Concerts of Female Composers.. from NRW by the National Music Council with the project "Freie Erde, freie Luft" a work for choir, chamber-orchestra and jazztrio
• 2005 - She was chosen by the city of Bern (Swizerland) to write a composition about Dürrenmatts book „Der Mitmacher“ for a jazztrio and four classical singers
• 2004 - Promotion for Concerts of Female Composers.. from NRW by the National Music Council with the Quartett "Angelika Niescier sublim"
• 2003 - Award for Young Artists (composition and instrumental skills) from Ministry for Culture of Nordrhine Westphalia
