Metaphysis

Die 2003 in Wien gegründete österreichische Alternative-Rock-Band Metaphysis besteht aus den drei jungen Cellisten Matthias Bartolomey, Wolfram Grün und Leonhard Roczek. Metaphysis versuchen durch Auslotung und Erweiterung der musikalischen und klanglichen Möglichkeiten das Klangspektrum des Cellos mehr und mehr zu erweitern. Die Gruppe beschäftigt sich intensiv mit der Entwicklung von neuen Spieltechniken, sowie mit der Erschließung von technischen Hilfsmitteln (etwa Tonabnehmer oder Effektgeräte) für die elektrische Verstärkung bzw. Verzerrung des Celloklanges. 2005 produziert die Band ihre erste professionelle Aufnahme mit selbstkomponierten Titeln (Metaphysis EP). Anfang Mai 2009 folgt die Single Greenwood / Stark Naked.
