About Me

JennyBowen.com
.....
An Avant-Garde Patriot.
I'm outside the cube.
I have experienced many aspects of life... I expect to experience many more.
I foremost practice being an active person dedicated to creating harmony in my immediate world, hoping ripples of good-will and grace will continue outward.
I evolve my comprehension by flowing with the river's pattern of ever changing seasons. I embrace humanity by respecting every person & recognizing that though our individual perspectives & experiences may be unique, we are all alike in our daily struggles with the human condition.
It is my philosophy that one cannot make anyone's quality of life better - but one can work towards giving people the *opportunities* to make their own personal choices in making their lives better.
I place value in Beauty , and in the miracle of humanity's ability to create art and science that is uplifting. I embrace style, courage, individuality, liberty & an openness of the heart & mind. I consider myself part of the bi-millennial philosophy & art movement, and thus I explore new ways in which to interpret, perceive, and make good the exponential change occurring in our world.

I am a photographer. I am also an avid student of history and anthropology who adores documentaries. I am currently working on the photo documentary / community study & enrichment project Faces of Asheville . It pretty much is my primary focus in life from 2007-2009. Check it, yo.
...
I am a digital and scavenger found-object collage artist. I love old rusty things - specters of the past. You may see me wandering around junk-yards & train-tracks muttering to myself.

Inspiring videos:

A propaganda film from the 1940's which clearly states the differences between Despotism and Democracy. America, much to our chagrin, is no longer much of a Democracy. Nor has it been in quite some time.
...
Charlie Chaplin's greatest speech written for 'The Great Dictator' - watch this if you need to be inspired.
...
Clip of 1912 Bull-Moose Progressive Candidate Teddy Roosevelt voicing his beliefs in Democracy and Liberty.
...
The Meaning of Life by Don Hertzfelt - perhaps the best cartoon ever.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Anyone old or new who I can call a friend - anyone who helps me remember to smile.

People who
... are inspiring,
... create,
... ask questions,
... imagine possibilities,
... philosophize,
... care,
... are lost & found,
... are dreaming,
... are geeky,
... are old and young, in spirit and in body,
... work for the good of others,
... love to laugh,
... are freaks,
... tune out and turn in,
... make music,
... make harmony,
... like to discuss issues intelligently,
... enjoy life,
... remember the past, think of tomorrow, but live in the moment,
People who HOPE.
