Roxie Hart is desire personified by soul music. Her immense natural ability soothes the soul while leaving a piece of her each time she performs. With her sultry vocals, Roxie evokes your sweetest memories, reaching highs and lows, but always culminating in musical perfection.
This 22-year-old rising star hails from North Carolina. Her father, a member of a traveling quartet in the 60s, and her mother, a member of her school choir, both passed on lives in the limelight for ones of devotion to the church.
Growing up singing in the church choir, Roxie honed her craft and was afforded the opportunity to open for soul legend Betty Wright (Fayetteville, N.C.). From there, she went on to open for a local radio station, 99.1/WZFX, at its anniverary celebration. The artist lineup included Jodeci, Total and Mista just to name a few.
While pursuing her degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), Roxie jumped head first into the live performance scene. Blessing the stage at Carolina hot spot Cats Cradle, she performed in a lineup featuring producer/rappers, Big Brother (produced by 9th Wonder) and Kevinkaze. The climax of her live performance series at the Cradle was opening for rap legend, KRS-One.
Upon receiving her B.A. degree in advertising and marketing from UNC, Roxie headed for Atlanta, Ga. to pursue a professional career as a solo recording artist. Since being in the A-town, Roxie has hit the ground running, collaborating with phenomenal songwriter Kiesha Miles (new member of Xscape) and Regina Boyle who has written for India.Arie. Roxie has also enlisted the aid of Jan Smith Studios, a famed vocal facility which touts clients such as Usher, Ciara, India.Arie, Monica, Omarion and Matchbox Twenty.
She touches the heart of music and translates it to the lives of everyday people. Past disappointments, lost loves, inferiority complexes and betrayal are all issues we all have to face, but Roxie is sure to be that constant shining star giving you what you need to proceed.
