Born and raised in metro detriot, DJ's infuences include Bad Religion, Sunny Day Real Estate, Araby, Coheed and Cambria, and a bunch of other bands that he sounds nothing like.
ember. is all about the odd-meter song, sometimes visiting several different time signatures in a single song seemingly just because he can; dropping by and saying hello to four or five bars of 5 or 7 just long enough to perk up your ear.
Listening to some ember. songs is more like an excersize in counting, but DJ never seems to lose us in the shift.
ember. is worth a listen, although an upgrade in recording quality is a must!
