Hello, hullo. Sunday 12th April @ 20:00pm (first band 20:30pm)
Hard Work Presents...
Instruments (LONDON, UK) www.myspace.com/instrumentsmakemusic
Twiddly, math-post-rock from down south. Drifting male and female vocals. Beautiful one minute, arms in the air the next.
I'm trying to remember the name of the band that influenced these boys and girls from London. They have a song called 'American Football or American Football?'. Hm.
Still drawing blanks.
For fans of Van Pelt, Rainer Maria, Cap N' Jazz et al.
BARN OWL (GLASGOW, UK) www.myspace.com/barnowltheband
Local boys who have the penchant for the perfect glowing pop song. Hushed vocals and hooks as huge as mountains. Hand claps and hypnotic riffs, noise and beauty. Having already played with UK-favourites Johnny Foreigner and heroes of US post-rock, Unwed Sailor. Expect big things from these Glasgow boys.
For fans of Frightened Rabbit, Amusement Parks on Fire, Pavement.
Cap Santé (ABERDEEN, UK) www.myspace.com/capsante
What year is this again? Thank fuck for these boys from Aberdeen. They've taken all the best bits of early 90s emo and thrown in some hefty singalongs ("WE WERE STRANDED BUT WE REALISED THAT NOTHING CHANGES!"). The best new band I've heard in ages and that's only through a laptop microphone. Second gig in Glasgow - third gig overall. Three is a magic number - they'll be a well oiled rock machine then
For fans of Algernon Cadwallader, The Van Pelt, Street Smart Cyclist.
BATTLE MOUNTAINS (DUNDEE, UK)
www.myspace.com/battlemountains
That Robin Sutherland (Stapleton, Tellison, Avast!, Jacob's Stories) sure knows his stuff. Three boys from Dundee who've just recorded a batch of songs with the king of Gravity DIPs/Banquet Records creme de la creme. Their very first gig in Glasgow!
For fans of Avast!, Braid, Biffy Clyro.
ONLY THREE POUNDS FIFTY. 20:00PM START. SMILES.Thanks!
