About Me

"All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think, we become." - Buddha.....I don't do cubicles; I'm married to the most unique person I've ever met, my husband Trey, and we just had our little girl, Juniper Lee, in April. I coach a masters (adult) swim team early in the AM, and I'm secretary of Share the Road Midsouth. This fall I am launching an outdoor and multisport magazine (WWW.DRIVENMAGAZINE.NET - go there. be awed!) with an eco-conscious angle that will enable me to keep my little girl out of daycare and allow me to follow my dream of being the owner and publisher of a magazine that does something positive in the world...I work out, mostly in a pool, and I love to run the trails. I plan and re-plan. I worry about everything, including global warming and the fact that I worry too much. I'm 100% Sagittarius.

My Interests

Pirates, anything involving water, written words, or the outdoors; Music, hanging with my husband and our daughter Juniper, and mojitos, Caribbean everything, restaurant patios, live reggae; Coaching, camping, hiking, traveling; Chicago, Saigon Le's lemongrass tofu, Starbucks, Indian cuisine, Blue Moon, international news, other cultures, funny people, and time off work. I hate: driving in Memphis, bugs, wasting time, cigarette smoke, shopping, and talking about stupid crap like makeup or where to buy shoes. I love good conversation and shade trees. I generally get very little sleep.

I'd like to meet:

My first advertisers! Weird Al...Lance Armstrong...Anthony Hopkins...Jason Statham...Erroll Flynn...the ghost in the machine...the anonymous guy who wrote the poem on the front of the diary I had when I was ten.

Music:

MARK KNOPFLER, THE ORB, 808State, Meat Beat Manifesto, Keane, The Cranberries, Tom Waits, The Beautiful Talented Poet: Mr. Morrissey, Van Morrison, Chris Isaac, world music, Mozart, OK Go, eighties rock, reggae-reggae-reggae...NO COUNTRY. I also like Cowboy Mouth and Unreleased electronic stuff by the Logical Operators, and Movie soundtracks.

Movies:

I love movies. Office Space, A River Runs Through It, Young Frankenstein, Chungking Express, The Birdcage, The Girl on the Bridge, Breaking the Waves, Gone with the Wind, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Jerry Maguire, Vanilla Sky, Love Actually, Braveheart, Pirates of the Caribbean!! Action flicks, KILL BILL, Indiana Jones, Sahara, V for Vendetta. All of the movies about Hannibal Lecter. The Philadelphia Story and anything else with Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn - Also, old musicals and the X-Men movies.

Television:

House, all the Law and Orders, Criminal Minds, the news, every CSI...I love Gil Grisham...

Books:

Hemingway - I've read all of his books. He is the man. Right now I'm reading The Portrait of a Lady. Next I'm gonna go for an Italo Calvino book I bought a couple of years ago and never got to...I also like Austen, Bronte, Hardy, Forrester, Dickens, Twain, Steinbeck, Fitzgerald, Poe, Tom Robbins, Nabokov, etc.

Heroes:

Cory Horton. Trey, Mom, and a few friends who support me. Love you all! (And Lance Armstrong. THE MAN)

The beach was pretty fun, besides the extreme heat and humidity, which rendered all physical activity nearly pointless. Juniper did not enjoy the beach because of that heat and humidity, the sand, and...
