About Me
Missy Mist is a founding female Miami Bass recording artist who helped pave the ground work for the Miami Bass movement in the late 80's early 90's, with such popular songs as "Make it Mellow" "Just Kickin it" "Gettin' Bass" "Yellow Polka dot Bikini" "Let the Good times Roll" and many others. Missy Mist has graced many Major record labels such as Atlantic, (Sylvia Rhone) RCA/BMG (Skip Miller/Miller London) as well as many Indies such as Bass Station Records, Never Stop Productions, Pandisc, BucketHead ENT. and Luke Records. Missy Mist was the youngest and the first female Miami Bass artist to land a six figure recording deal! Missy Mist has charted to number 10 on Billboard’s Rap charts with the help of her infamous Super Producer, Eric Griffin, or as she called him Eric. G.Eric and Missy Mist took the Miami Bass scene by storm. Both Norberto "Candyman" Morales & Eric G. met Missy Mist at a local radio station, W.E.D.R. in Miami, Florida while promoting their event. Missy was an LL Cool J. fan and had convinced her mother to take her to meet him at the station. While there, Missy’s Mother/Manager (Margie) convinced the radio station’s security guard (Pierson) that Missy could rap & act. After being introduced by Pierson, to Eric Griffin & Norberto “Candyman†Morales, the music partners quickly signed Missy to a record deal. Sadly, shortly after this monumental occasion, Norbeto was brutally murdered in his home. Missy & Eric promised to push on with a vengeance. They were unstoppable, hence the name change of Eric's record label from "Bass Station Records" to "Never Stop Productions".
Tragically, Eric Griffin would never have the chance to see the New Millennium. He was violently murdered back in his E. St. Louis home during a recording session in his studio.
Missy Mist says, "If only Eric & I could be out there now! Eric was so before his time. This was his dream to see Miami officially on the Miami Bass/Crunk/Hip Hop map! It's such a shame."Missy was innovative and saw much success! Known for her thick Bronx New York accent, crisp deliveries, stunning smile, sexy stage outfits, glamorous persona and winning personality, Missy Mist was truly one of a kind and in a league of her own.Missy has performed with the likes of many in the Hip Hop & R&B arenas. Most recently, Missy recorded using the alias Ms. Houston, where she was featured on "Bishop's" CD "U Know U Ghetto. Missy collaborated with Bishop on three of his songs and says, "The reason I didn't use my stage name "Missy Mist" was because Missy Elliott seems to have done very well with it. Although, I've had that name since I was a little girl growing up in The Bronx & Miami, and have been recording with it since my first recording back in 1987. But, it's whatever! Everything happens for a reason. No regrets. I Like Missy Elliot's music. To be honest, I actually enjoyed using an alias for Bishop’s CD. The songs we did were a little risqué, so it’s cool to separate the two aliases. I will however, use my stage name-my name, “Missy Mist†again though. She's me! Missy Mist. That’s who I am."Missy Mist is in and out of the studio from time to time. Entertainment will always play a major role in her life.
