steel affliction was formed in 2001 by a need for a band that would not only play thrash metal of a supreme calibre, but also to be a band band that lived and breathed the heavy metal lifestyle. Featuring members already known from work with various established australian bands, The berzerker, Earth, From Hell and abramelin, steel affliction soon became known as a hard drinking, hard living thrash band with a taste for fast women, fast cars and even faster riffs. When the band would take to the live circuit, the stage would be turned into a battlefield of metal, and no mercy would be shown. In 2003 the debut album sex, drugs & steel was released to quite acclaim. Numerous shows followed the release around australia. In 2005 matt would relocate to london to join extreme metal warlords akercocke, and for some time the band would be in hiatus. in 2007 however a blistering return was made in melbourne, with a one off show to crush the skulls of the non believers of heavy metal.
