FreeMaan Photo slideshowFreeman – a poet and a songwriter.My real name is Rafal Nurczyk. I was born on 4th July 1986 in Poland.Why FreeMaan? Because I am FREE in my life, flying like a bird through the sky against the wind.Music has always been my great passion and the highest priority. It saved my life and gave it a new meaning. I have always felt that it kept away the loneliness when there was nobody around.Since I was a very shy kid I was singing only at home, in front of my parents. But that’s now in the past…In 2002 I joined the vocal studio "Mat" which was my first step taken towards becoming a professional singer. It greatly developed my musical sensitivity and vocal skills. I also discovered a passion for poetry when I first encountered and worked with lyrics by one of the greatest Polish lyricist, Agnieszka Osiecka.In 2004 I won my first prize in Singing Poetry which encouraged me to take up more musical activities to broaden my knowledge and grow as a vocalist. In 2005, I took part in vocal workshops in Poland led by a famous jazz singer Anna Serafinska. I also collaborated with several Polish artists singing as their backing singer. In 2006 I participated in Gospel workshops under the British Gospel singer, Clinton Jordan,Since middle of 2006 I have been living in London. In 2007 I enrolled to the Student of Pointblank College in London under some great names (double Grammy Award winner Phil Ramacoon).Student in University of London, Goldsmiths Soul/Jazz/Gospel Musicianship. Currently in British Academy Of New MusicAlso have been making my first steps on the London music scene with a performance in the Pizza On The Park (Soul/Jazz/Gospel Winter Concert).At the moment I’m looking for inspiration to create my own music. I am open for collaboration with others artists, backing vocals, duets etc. Together with my pianist, we are working on completing my first professional demo.
