Blanket Rape Chronicles Premiere Episode
The Silent Legion is a Fort Wayne based comedy rock, acoustic, punk, experimental, and sometimes sludge/noise duo consisting of Muketsu on vocals, and Ikari on instruments. The group is locally infamous for their unique mix of disturbing/offensive and often spontaneous and irrelevant lyrics, obscure mix of music styles, outgoing and bizarre behavior, and their trademark of improvising in all their work. The group began in February of 2007 when the two were searching El Chupacabra videos on Youtube. They stumbled across a video of three kids singing an acoustic song about the El Chupacabra with one of them running around in a cheap mask. Being rather dumbfounded at their discovery, Ikari turned to Muketsu and said 'Dude, we could totally make a better El Chupacabra song!' So they went into Muketsu's closet and pulled out a dusty 5 string Fender acoustic guitar. None of them were very experienced at music, they had both played bass guitar in bands but none of them knew how to play guitar. Ikari picked it up and remembered something his brother had told him about octave notes on a guitar, and he made his best guess at a power chord. Muketsu then took on the duty of vocals, although he had never done so before, and they improvised their first song. A couple months later, Muketsu found a 30 year old cassette recorder boom box and the group recorded their improvised El Chupacabra song for the first time, and a primitive rendition of Chicks By Night, a punk song about transvestites with lyrics written by Muketsu's older sister. In 2008, the duo began a new project, long influenced by sketch comedy shows (particularly Kids in the Hall) they decided they should start filming their own skit comedy series, especially after recently being introduced to the videos by Tim and Eric, which inspired them greatly. They started working on writing skits together, and went on to film, and act the episode themselves, and finished filming in August. They now needed to decide on a name for the series, finally sticking with the 'Blanket Rape Chronicles' (a name which Ikari derived and drew the art for while in class when some other students asked for one of their CD's, as Ikari had forgotten the original name of the album.) They recorded the theme song shortly afterward. They currently have 3 full-length albums, and a 4-Disc Box Set featuring various old demos, audio skits, and more. And have just finished their 2nd episode of the Blanket Rape Chronicles. So enough about us, get a goblet to raise, AND JOIN THE GOBLIN COURT!!!
