Well guys, that's it for another year!
The 2009 Crawley Folk Festival turned out to be a huge hit with festival goers from as far a field as Austria and France, as well as Crawley locals. Glorious sunshine beat down on The Hawth grounds and over 3,000 people entered into the festival spirit, enjoying dance and music displays, perusing stalls, enjoying food and cooling down with a pint or two from The Real Ale Marquee!
Highlights of the weekend included performances from Mawkin:Causley, who demonstrated why they have been nominated for a BBC Folk Award before even releasing an album and The Bad Shepherds, with comedian Adrian Edmondson who entertained with their unique mix of punk and folk.
Finally folk legends Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick found it hard to leave the main stage on Saturday night as the audience shouted for more. Some of the acts, including Eliza Carthy and Murder of Rooks had hot-footed it from Glastonbury to perform and delighted festival-goers at Crawley were very glad they did!
Festival organiser Dave Watmore was thrilled with the outcome, ‘With such a fantastic line-up of acts, great weather and lots of activities to offer all ages, Crawley Folk Festival was a great success all round - It was fantastic to see so many people enjoying themselves’.
To all those who attended, thanks so much for coming - we hope you had a good a time as we did! Keep your eye out for 2010 festival info coming to this site soon!
See you again next year!
