My name is Marissa (mah-ree-suh), like Teresa with an M! And get it right! Hahaha. Hmmm...I'm a graduate of Seattle University where I played basketball and studied civil engineering, emphasizing in Structures and minoring in Mathematics (and, no I'm not a nerd!). I've recently altered my career from a design engineer to a construction project engineer. So, after nearly 5 years of design experience and a summer off, I am now managing construction projects. It's pretty exciting and I'm having a good time doing it!
I'm also a proud new mommy of twins: Isabella Lourdes and Manuel Cristiano (we call him by his middle name), both born 4/5/09! They were 8 weeks premature and are doing well. We're excited to have them in our lives and can't wait for their homecoming. They currently are in the NICU, gaining the fat they need. It's been a long wait for them to be here and I look forward to everything with them, even changing their diapers!
On the side, Basketball, Basketball, Basketball!!! In the past, I've been an assistant coach for North Seattle CC, coached in summer basketball camps and assisted in a select program. A few years back, I started a select program on my own: BLAZE, where I am the director and head coach of the teams. That program has become my life and inspiration. It feels good to play a big part in my players' lives and I enjoy being their role model. My goal is to teach them the importance of being driven, well-repected indivuals as well as confident, female athletes.

It's been a challenge to take up this extracurricular activity, but I love to stay busy. I've always been criticized that I try to do too much in such little time...but I love succeeding and proving doubters wrong! That's my drive!
When I have time, I enjoy being with my family and friends and. I also like to work on our outdoor projects in the backyard. I tend to be an extrovert who isn't closed to meeting new and exciting people. I'm easy going, a kid at heart, a total romantic, sentimental, a dreamer, a goal setter and a planner. Competitive is a good word to describe me...I'm a good sport at losing, but I LOVE to win!
Among all of these loves, there's nothing that can take me away from the one most true to my heart, my husband, Manuel. He challenges in ways no one can and his soul is the most beautiful I have ever encountered. Manuel is extremely funny, but also compassionate. He does a good job at making tough situations seem easy. He's my number 1!
