About Me

Adam Bowen has music in his blood. He comes from long lines of musicians from both sides of the family (great grandparents Neil and Annie Morrison were Classically trained opera singers with the Dundee Operatic Society). Son of international recording artist Patricia Watson, Adam grew up on the road learning the tricks of the trade from direct experience. From learning how to draw “Picasso paintings” with Michael Schenker (Scorpions) at the age of 5 to hanging out with Slash pool side in Maui at 11.
Crafting his career out of Maui Hawaii, Adam has had the pleasure of performing with acts like Maroon 5, Angelo Moore of Fishbone, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Mat Costa, Erin Smith, Paula Fuga, The Itals, The Apostle, Mandi Seekings, Anuhea and The Hilton Sisters to name a few. He has played some of music’s most sought after venues such as The Playboy Mansion, Hollywood’s Knitting Factory and The Marilyn Monroe Mansion as well as major stages on the islands of Maui, Molokai, Lanai, Oahu, Kauai, and the honorable island of California.
Playing all forms of basses and guitars from standup to fret-less and from acoustic to screaming electric, Adam has the ability as a fast learner to chameleon himself into many diverse musical genres. Also playing Drums and Percussion, making and sequencing beats and samples and dabbling in all kinds of sonic possibilities, Adam’s genuine love for sound proves apparent.
Adam Bowen has played many roles in many bands: front man, rhythm section, graphic designer, sound man, lighting tech, open jam host and tambourine player as well as recording engineer and producer for a handful of origional acts.
Playing in bands like the Ukulele driven rock of The Easy, the sultry Latin Hawaiian drive of Lawa, the strange undulating middle eastern rhythms of Quadraphonic, the funked-out classics of The Afrodesiacs, LA’s pumpin’ rock n’ roll band High Octane, the silliness of Beef Tower, and the diversity of hosting the longest running Open Jam in Maui, Adam fits into just about any situation with confidence and professionalism.
...And with a solo / acoustic repertoire of over 400 favorites, utilizing looping and sound effect technology, Adam Bowen can captivate diverse audiences for as long as necessary.

Sounds Like: It sounds like whatever needs to come out. i'll play soft jazz "girl from ipanima" into misfits "skulls" and end the medly with "brown eyed girl" but not before a random "sublime" chorus.

My acoustic work has lots of ska/reggae elements with a folk rock twist. The lyrics go from self indulgent to political to all luvy to just plain silly.

I make electronic music that's pretty progressive and relys on sound texture and lots of samples... sometimes. Other times it's beat and groove consious... I love the break beat.

On the bass i FUNK IT UP. I love the funk so it's enevitable, if i'm on the bass, your boppin'. but i also truly love the subtelties of a strange walking bass line and the heavy hammer thumping of 1000 mph pop and slap technique.... Hiiiiieeee~Yah!!!

It's hard to describe what i sound like because it's like asking a computer what's on the internet. I'm a pretty diverse guy and it comes through enevitably in my music.
