About Me

Raised on bluegrass, folk, rock, surrealism, and umbrella trees, later acquired an obsession with jazz/rock fusion, celtic, Indian, electronic, minimalists, old soul, classic country, guitarists, violinists, keyboardists, drummers, bassists, mandolinists, dobroists, instrumentalists, songwriters, and multi-track recording, and have listened to just about everything good I could get my hands on. I did the painting and the pics, which popup, with the original musical compositions above.I acquired most of my interest in the banjo while taking lessons and then teaching at the Stype Brothers Banjo Shop in Hollywood, FL when I was a kid. I did some writing/editing for Jazziz magazine where I had the pleasure of interviewing some of my favorite musicians such as Steve Morse, T Lavitz, Jean-Luc Ponty, Pat Metheny, John McLaughlin, Michael Hedges, David Grisman, Darol Anger, Mike Marshall, Mark O'Connor, Marty Cutler, Chet Atkins, Pat Cloud, etc. I was honored to share the stage with Col. Bruce Hampton and the Aquarium Rescue Unit, with Col. Bruce, Jimmy Herring (Widespread Panic), Oteil Burbridge (Allman Bros.), and Jeff Sipe (w/everybody), this was before mandolin virtuoso Matt Mundy became a member. Around that same time, I met one of my favorite musicians Tom Hobson, who recorded the critically acclaimed Quah, with Hot Tuna/Jefferson Airplane's Jorma Kaukonen. I formed a band with Tom Hobson, and we did quite a few gigs until he died on 9/24/1991 at the age of 52. You can learn more about Tom Hobson at www.TomHobson.comCheck out my friends list, that's where the truly great musicians are.
