About Me
NEW Show up for the Week of May 18 - May 25
Visit The Stimulated Boredom YouTube Channel!
The lifespan of a new visit to any myspace profile is roughly 5.7 seconds (I have no scientific data to back that number up, but go with it), how long will you last? The clock starts...now...1...2...3...4...
My name is Dana and I am the host of a weekly internet radio talk show entitled 'Stimulated Boredom' , a purposeful and intended oxymoron to be sure. :)
The show is an independent, uncensored, unedited and intelligent / entertaining talk show that discusses politics, news, social commentary, history, science, music, movies, life, gaming, as well as 'hot button / 3rd rail' issues (i.e. religion, race, abortion, social issues etc)...heavy in sarcastic humor, passion for the topics and being informed, reading between the lines and saying what can't be said on cable, network news or terrestrial (AM / FM) radio. The show is listened to in all 50 states and over 85 countries and has truly become a community of US & International listeners based upon emails, feedback and calls from around the World. There is also now a new video channel companion to the show on
YouTube !
The name of the program is exactly what it suggests; a place to have your mind stimulated when you are bored, through discussion of a wide range of topics, ideas and opinions. It never takes itself too seriously, but at the same time covers relevant and important issues in a conversational tone that is accessible, entertaining and easy to understand. Whether it is a complex and detailed discussion of The Big Bang Theory, Stem Cell research, Natural Selection or Socio-economic policy...or a lighter topic such as movies, music, relationships or video games...each topic is discussed in such a way that the listener comes away with a clear understanding or new opinions and ideas to consider for themselves. I like to refer to it as 'turning a lightbulb on over people's heads'... :)
When It Comes To Politics:
I am neither liberal, conservative, libertarian, moderate or progressive. As should be the case with any intelligent human being who is contemplating the complexities of domestic, foreign and social issues, I am in fact all of these descriptions...the adjective that best describes my stance is wholly contingent upon the individual topic or issue...not a broad based and naïve acceptance of all of the planks of a particular parties platform or ideology. However, let there be no mistake, as I am a deeply opinionated and passionate person who stresses being informed and seeing all sides of the debate, including the right and ability to change my mind! A virtue that appears to be lost sometimes in today's 'my team versus your team' political environment...
When It Comes To Everything Else:
Although political discussion is a staple of the program and has been since it's inception in February of 2005, the show also discusses a myriad of other general interest topics that I am passionate about. Being an avid reader and obsessed student of human behavior, history, science and debate, the show easily transitions from the serious to the silly at any given time. Also, being a conversationalist, I enjoy sharing my unique opinions and thought process while allowing others to share theirs. As a result, the program (and my special brand of BS) has been included on the syllabus of multiple universities (for varying subjects) as recommended listening. Whether through my "Issues Series" -- where I take a complex topic and break it down to provide a foundation of knowledge and understanding of it for my listeners -- or simply discussing the newest movie release, thoughts on life or other easily identifiable topics, the program is sure to keep your boredom stimulated. :)
Not Just About The Show:
However, this page is not going to just be used to promote the show, as it is also my personal space / profile where I can share photos and details of my life that are not found on stimulatedboredom.com; blog posts and updated information about me and what I find important, interesting or funny. Therefore, my friends are a combination of listeners who requested a profile for the program, new and interesting people, as well as those whom I know 'in real life'.
If you happen to have become interested, the show is not a "professional" program (I do it in my free time outside of my 'real job') and I am a 'normal' person (using that term loosely) just like the individuals found on MySpace, especially those without a shortage of opinions, sarcasm or passion for particular topics and issues and looking for a voice to send out into the World a la 'Pump up the volume' ("Talk Hard!")...trying to affect change and to provide a different (and easier to digest) way of looking at the topics. I'd love to stimulate your boredom...and not in the way that is illegal in 39 states...seek help...seriously...freak. :)
If you want to check out segments from the show, I have added a handy player in the 'General' information section. The most recent segment is cued up and ready for you to hit 'play', or you can select 'Posts' in the player to pull up a menu of over 190+ available segments, each between 1 - 3 hours in length. Additionally you can also go to the main website for additional ways to hear the show, including subscribing for free to the podcast version (i.e. iTunes, iGoogle and more).
If talk radio isn't your "thing", no worries, as I hope you'll stick around and participate in my blog, take a gander at my friend's profiles and comments, my additional photos and interests and learn a little more about me, perhaps drop me a line and become friends...there's a crisp $50 in it for ya'...ok, not really, but everyone loves a bribe... ;)

The true question now is: Do I continue to expand and write more information on my profile? Let's be honest, rarely will people take the time to read what you write before they go right for the pics (if you made it this far, you just won a T-Shirt that says, "I spent more than 10 seconds on a MySpace profile and all I got was this lousy T-Shirt"...score!)...
Well, I hope you stay long enough to be interested in networking, making a new friend, starting an interesting conversation or listening to my show, I'll try to keep the clutter to a minimum...
By the way, you surpassed the 5.7 second mark by reading this far down...your T-Shirt is in the mail...
Dana
* Dana, 34, resides in Orlando Florida and attended Florida State University. He has an unhealthy love of the Seminoles and is currently enrolled in a 12-step program that isn’t working. He travels often for work and is trying to travel more often for pleasure and introspection, as well as to feed his love of photography and to see new places and meet new people. He enjoys long walks on the beach, is attempting guitar & piano lessons, hates “mean people†and thinks that rainbows are “just lovelyâ€. Dana also speaks in the third-person (evidently), sleeps in the fetal position and pees sitting down.

O ME! O LIFE!
O ME! O life!... of the questions of these recurring;
Of the endless trains of the faithless - of cities filld with the foolish;
Of myself forever reproaching myself, (for who more foolish than I, and who more faithless?)
Of eyes that vainly crave the light - of the objects mean - of the struggle ever renewd;
Of the poor results of all - of the plodding and sordid crowds I see around me;
Of the empty and useless years of the rest - with the rest me intertwined;
The question, O me! so sad, recurring - What good amid these, O me, O life?
Answer: That you are here - that life exists, and identity;
That the powerful play goes on, and you will contribute a verse.
W. Whitman
In all my wardrobe, I could not find anything
more precious than the knowledge of the
conduct and achievements of great men,
which I learned by long conversation in
modern affairs and a continual investigation
of old
A wise man ought always to set before him
for his example the actions of great men who
have excelled in the achievement of some
great exploit
